About me and my therapy practice
In-person and online
I offer both face-to-face sessions in Coulsdon, Surrey and online counselling via Zoom, for adults and teenagers (I have an Enhanced DBS certificate). Please follow the link to my website to view a short video of how I work and a photo of the counselling room.
About me
I decided to train as a counsellor after I had benefitted from having counselling myself. Since then, I have worked as a counsellor in the NHS and for Kingston Council, before setting up my own private practice based in Chipstead, near Coulsdon in Surrey.
I am a fully qualified Rewind therapist for the treatment of PTSD, and am a trained adoption-support counsellor. In addition, I have experience helping people with OCD and addiction issues (alcohol, eating, sex, the internet). There is a link on my website to reviews I have written on some good books and films on these subjects, including on adoption, which I have a particular interest in as an adopted person myself.
Practice description
What to expect
My training as an integrative counsellor means that I aim to fit my approach to your individual needs. This may involve exploring how patterns of behaviour from your past affect your present life. Understanding how this happens can be an empowering experience. Or you may wish to focus on a specific issue in your life without going into your past.
I aim to create a safe place in which you feel really listened to and all aspects of your life experience are honoured. Counselling provides the opportunity for you to spend dedicated time on yourself, exploring your feelings and perceptions with my support.
Training, qualifications and experience
First-class honours degree in integrative-relational counselling from Middlesex University.
Rewind Therapy training for PTSD (International Association for Rewind Trauma Therapy)
Certificate in Adoption Support Counselling (Albany Centre)
Issues arising from boarding school (Boarding School Survivors and Dorset Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists)
Addiction (The Meadows, Arizona and KeyStone Centre, Pennsylvania)
Mindfulness (Dialogue Consultancy).
My first session
First session
The first session is a chance for you to see how you feel working with me. I will invite you to tell me what brings you to counselling, and to give me some background about your life.
