About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I’m Gillian - welcome to my profile.
At times in life moving forward or even coping with your situation can feel very difficult or overwhelming. You might be struggling with anxiety or depression, family or relationship problems. Or perhaps you are experiencing loss, bereavement, uncertainty, rejection, unwelcome change or other stresses. At these times counselling can help by giving you a safe, confidential space in which you can talk about, look at and begin to resolve or better manage the issues that are troubling you.
As your Counsellor I will be a supportive, non-judgemental and understanding companion as we explore your difficulties together and you find ways to move forward or cope better in your life.
Some of the issues I can help with include: anxiety, bereavement, carer stress, depression, disordered eating, family issues, generalised anxiety disorder, panic disorder, low self-confidence, relationship problems, self esteem, self-harm, sexuality / sexual identity, stress, suicidal thoughts, work-related issues.
I have special interests in bereavement, loss and grief, working with carers and disordered eating including Bulimia and compulsive eating.
In addition to offering counselling sessions, I am a Licensed Practitioner for the Introduction to Understanding Your Eating Programme, an evidence-based psychotherapeutic approach to clients with emotional eating and overeating. This programme consists of an assessment session followed by 5 one-to-one seminars to help you understand and begin to work with the emotional issues underlying your eating behaviour. Please contact me for more information on this programme.
