Practice description

What is on offer

I provide a caring, supportive, and non-judgemental environment to help you find a way through any difficulties you may be facing. What is on offer is Pluralistic style counselling. As a counsellor I offer you my honesty and respect while we explore issues you feel you would like to bring to counselling. This means you are empowered to discover solutions to issues in a supportive environment. My core approach is Person-Centred, meaning you are free to bring whatever you wish to counselling. I will not give you advice/tell you what to talk about, however we will work together to find your own answers. If appropriate, I may introduce you to different styles of interventions I can offer. These may assist in finding understanding or solutions at time where you are feeling stuck/lost in what to talk about or do. You are always free to choose whether it is something you would like to try or not. It is very important in my style of counselling to tailor your sessions to your individual needs through a collaborative relationship.

I also am an Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) practitioner *please see my website for more details*

Sessions

Each session duration is an hour, unless agreed otherwise. How many sessions you have are completely up to you and you may discontinue at any point you feel comfortable. It is good practice to have a review in every 6th session to appraise how our work has been together. The review should take no longer than 20 minutes within your session. It is also important when ending our work together to have a ‘closing’ session. Endings are important to not only work towards but to discuss your process and to review your goals.

My first session

Free 30 minute session:

This free half an hour assessment is used to find out whether we both are comfortable working with one another. We will go over our working agreement, the reasons for coming to counselling, and go over some background history. You may also choose to undertake an evaluation of where you are now (tick box assessment), which can be used to track your progress in therapy over the length of your journey.

What I can help with

Abuse, ADD / ADHD, AIDS/HIV, Anger management, Anxiety, Autism spectrum, Child related issues, Cultural issues, Depression, Disability, Identity issues, Infertility, LGBTQ+ counselling, Loss, Menopause, Men's issues, Mood disorder, Neurodiversity, OCD, Personal development, Phobias, Post-traumatic stress, Pregnancy related issues, Redundancy, Relationships, Self esteem, Self-harm, Service veterans, Sexual identity, Sexuality, Stress, Trauma, Women's issues, Work related issues

FULLY BOOKED -Unable to take on new supervisees.

About me and my therapy practice

My counselling modality is Pluralistic with a Person-centred foundation, and my supervision style reflects this. As a pluralistic supervisor, the main focus is the development of our supervisory relationship and working collaboratively to ensure your needs as a supervisee are being met. I use techniques and interventions from a variety of modalities e.g. EMDR, CBT, Internal family systems, solution-focused, flash technique and Rewind therapy. My main specialist area is working with psychological trauma, however, I do work with a wide range of presenting problems and client groups. Therefore, I will bring into our supervision sessions a wide scope of perspectives of what a client may find useful at different stages of their therapeutic process.

I provide a caring, supportive, and non-judgmental environment to help you navigate your professional experiences and we will work together so you get what you need from our sessions. As a supervisor, I will offer you my honesty and respect while we explore issues you feel you would like to bring to supervision and will work on developing your own inner-supervisor so you are empowered to discover solutions to issues in a supportive environment.

The fee for supervision sessions are:

Initial assessment – Free

Individual sessions- £50 x 1 hour / £75 x 1.5 hours

Practice description

My model of Supervision is the 7-eyed model, where as your supervisor, I will be aware of each “eye” that can affect your practice. Although this is solely in my own awareness and you do not need to be aware of them, I have listed each of the eyes below:

Focus on the Client

Focus on Interventions

Focus on Client/Therapist Relationship

Focus on the Therapist’s Process

Focus on Therapist/Supervisor Relationship

Focus on Supervisor’s Process

Focus on the Wider Context

My first session

I offer an initial free 30-minute session, where we can have a chance to meet to see if we feel comfortable working together.

In this session, we can go over what supervision is, what I offer and your current and future needs for supervision.

This meeting is completely no pressure as it's very important to get a feel for your supervisor and to ensure that you feel safe and confident with whomever you choose.

At the end of our initial assessment, I will also give you a copy of the working agreement for you to look over in your own time to make a fully informed decision if you wish to book your first session. If you choose to book your first session, this can be done at the end of our initial meeting or over email. If at the end (or after) you feel I’m not the right fit, I can always give you details of other local supervisors who come highly recommended.
