About me and my therapy practice
Starting counselling or psychotherapy can be a major decision and finding a therapist who feels right for you is really important.
Counselling is about finding a safe and containing space to explore together whatever is concerning you – without judgement. It is a chance to work collaboratively to make sense of painful or difficult feelings, and from there to make a change.
I work from a psychodynamic perspective, which takes into account unconscious motivations and feelings. Our early lives and emotional development impact the way we see the world and ourselves, and understanding this can help with problems we are coming up against in the present. Gaining these kinds of insights can empower us to know ourselves better and to find out what changes feel right for us as individuals.
I hold an MSc in Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy, and have experience helping people from a variety of backgrounds with issues such as anxiety, depression, ill health, relationship problems, concerns around transition and identity, and traumatic experiences.
I am a BACP accredited member, meaning that I have undertaken additional voluntary assessment to demonstrate an ongoing commitment to uphold a high standard of competent and ethical practice.
In addition to private practice, I have worked with NHS clients, and I continue to work in Higher Education counselling, and with workplace employee assistance programmes.
Practice description
I work from comfortable and private rooms in the heart of London's West End, about 8-10 minutes' walk from both Oxford Circus and Goodge Street stations. Fees are based on a sliding scale to accommodate each client’s personal financial circumstances, starting from £70. I am able to offer limited concessionary rates to those who are on a low income or who would not be able to access psychotherapy at the full rate.
Sessions last 50 minutes and are usually held weekly at the same time.
Session are offered primarily in person in central London, and also online via Zoom or Skype.
My first session
The initial appointment is a chance for us to meet and for me to understand a bit about what has brought you to the session. It is also an opportunity for you to decide if you want to continue working with me and to ask any questions you may have about my approach. If you decide to continue, we will find a weekly slot for regular sessions. I offer both long-term/open-ended and short-term therapy.
