About me and my therapy practice
Adult therapeutic counsellor. Qualified therapeutic counsellor for children and young people, incorporating play and creative therapy.
Working face to face in Brighton, by phone and online nationally and internationally.
I work with warmth, compassion and equity to create space for you to explore and release a full range of feelings and experiences. My role as a counsellor is to be alongside you, creating a supported therapeutic space for reflection and emotional release. We can work together to explore patterns of being and thinking that you feel a need to prioritise. If you are seeking supported challenge I will encourage you to compassionately examine alternative views on situations and offer support as you experiment with changes. I will help you to recognise your own power and find ways to live your life as well as you possibly can including finding ways to manage stressors and difficulties which are not not in your power to control. At its most basic level counselling is a place where you have space and time to focus on yourself.
I am a qualified child and young people's counsellor and the counselling follows a pro-active approach, fitting to needs and priorities. This is a blend of focused listening, emotionally focused play, creative therapy and CBT. It offers the opportunity to access, explore and release feelings, examine how to feel safer with big feelings and respond to what is revealed. Play and creativity are primary ways of communicating and a gateway to learning more about feelings and how to manage them.
Practice description
I am working online and by telephone nationally and internationally. I am working face to face in my comfortable well ventilated Brighton consulting room, situated in the Fiveways area.
I can work over short term or long term contracts. Much of the work done comes from working with you to change what you can to better manage challenging circumstances, process emotions that feel hard and difficult, find out more about yourself for yourself and challenge habits of thinking or behaving that you want to change.
The counselling is not about being helped by someone else who suggests solutions to your problems, it is a process of discovery we make together. You may want to talk about painful experiences, feelings or deep-rooted fears. My role is to support you in taking the risk of sharing and helping you to take care of yourself.
My first session
We can start with a free 15 minute telephone contact or parent counsultation. This will be to discuss your or your child's reasons for seeking counselling and give you a sense of how I work. If in agreeance we will then arrange an appointment for an initial consultation.
