About me and my therapy practice
I am an integrative therapist providing one to one therapy for adults online.
Whatever is troubling you, therapy offers a valuable opportunity to self-reflect and gain self-awareness. Insight can bring you greater self-compassion, freedom of choice and the real possibility for change. Just as physiotherapy can ease an aching back, so therapy can facilitate a more comfortable or less painful frame of mind.
My approach is warm, relational and collaborative, therapy with me will be a confidential, non-judgemental conversation in which the focus will be on you. Together we can explore your feelings, patterns and the underlying reasons for your difficulties at a pace you’re comfortable with.
Issues I have experience working with include: anxiety (rumination /over-thinking, perfectionism, panic attacks, catastrophising), low self-esteem, relationship issues and complex ptsd. I also have particular experience of working with people who have experienced bullying at school or bullying/violence at home during childhood.
Before qualifying as a therapist, I did a first degree and MA and worked for a number of years in the arts. I'm still involved in a creative field and bring to my practice an understanding of the pressures a creative/competitive job can present.
My integrative approach allows me to tailor my work to suit your individual needs. I am trained in both psychodynamic and humanistic modalities and have further training in the treatment of trauma. I am particularly influenced by attachment theory, internal family systems and relational/mindfulness/compassion based ways of working.
Practice description
I offer sessions online. I have lots of experience working in this way and, as long as you can find a quiet, private space to talk, I have found it just as helpful and effective for clients as other forms of therapy. Occasionally I might feel you would benefit more from working with a therapist in a room. This is something we could discuss during the initial phone call.
My first session
One of the major components of successful therapy is the client/therapist rapport, it's important you find the right therapist for you. I offer an initial free fifteen minute phone chat for you to get an idea of what talking to me feels like and for me to see if I'm the best person to help. Then the first session is a further chance for us to see how working together feels. There's no obligation for you to continue past the initial meeting. Please do get in touch by email with any questions about starting therapy.
