About me and my therapy practice
I’m Rachel and I’m a fully qualified Person-centred Counsellor and Psychotherapist, and Registered Member of the BACP. As a person-centred therapist I will offer you a therapeutic relationship which is free from judgement, and full of acceptance, empathy, and congruence (‘being real’). Most importantly, I aim to create a safe space where you can explore your feelings and experiences to gain a better understanding of them and of yourself, and where we can relate to one another human to human.
I have a special interest in working with:
- Trauma (including PTSD / post-traumatic stress)
- Anxiety (including panic attacks, social anxiety and health anxiety)
- Spirituality
and have also supported clients with struggles with:

Qualifications:
- FdA Person-centred Counselling & Psychotherapy (University of Warwick)
- BA (Hons) Person-centred Counselling & Psychotherapy (University of Warwick) (1st class)
- I am currently studying for an MA in Trauma Informed Practice (University of Nottingham), due to complete Jan 2025
Additional experience:
In addition to my therapy work, I have 18 years experience working for the NHS as a Registered Nurse.
Practice description
My therapy practice is in Chester city centre, on the historic Chester Rows.
My session fee is £50 per 60-minute hour, with a reduced fee of £45 for students and/or trainee therapists who require counselling/psychotherapy as part of their training.
Please note, my practice is on the 1st floor and can only be accessed via steps, and as such is unsuitable for those with limited mobility.

- CPCAB Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills
- CPCAB Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies
- Trauma & the body - somatisation & dissociation
- Training for bereavement counselling - the nature of grief
- Post traumatic strength - changing the lens when working with trauma
- Working with soul - creating a trellis for spirituality in therapeutic practice

My first session
I offer a free, no obligation 20 minute telephone chat, prior to starting therapy. This chat gives you the opportunity to share the reason you are looking for a therapist, and for me to share some more information about my practice and the way that I work. You will also have the chance to ask any questions about the process. Ultimately, it gives us both the chance to see if we are a good 'fit' to work together.
If you decide to proceed, will we arrange a suitable time for our first face to face session, which will include a full assessment.
All face to face therapy sessions are for one full hour (60 minutes).
