About me and my therapy practice
If you are looking through this directory, you are most likely searching for a professional with whom you can explore private matters while feeling safe and at ease. But how to find the right person and the approach that best suits you?
I have trained as HP Psy in Germany and as an integrative counsellor/therapist in the UK. This means I have a solid foundation in a wide range of approaches such as humanistic, transcultural, psychodynamic, person-centred, etc. Over the years, I have worked with clients from many different backgrounds (age, culture, faith, disabilities, sexuality etc.), always adapting my approach to the unique circumstances of each person.
Clients come to see me with all sorts of issues ranging from psycho-education, self-exploration and support during their therapy training to challenging situations such as dealing with life transitions (university/parenthood/relocation ...), boundary issues, trauma, domestic abuse and many more.
I have been a migrant for the past 30 years. Living and raising children abroad has taught me a lot about what it means to be a foreigner who does not always think, feel, act or look like the locals. It has made me become sensitive to culture and migration-related issues such as belonging, identity, loss, loneliness, anger, sadness, raising children abroad, multicultural partnerships etc. What does it mean for expat employees, their families and other multicultural individuals to be different and misunderstood, or - in the case of Third Culture Kids (TCKs) - to grow up in different cultures? What are the psychological effects of multiple relocations and what can support migrants?
Multicultural lives are exciting, but they can also be challenging and stressful. Therefore, I offer specialized services for the globally mobile community.
Practice description
Guiding You On the Path of Self-Healing
If you have never been in counselling, you might wonder how talking to a stranger can possibly help. It is perhaps best to give it a try and to find out by yourself, but fundamentally this is how sessions look like:
After meeting in a comfortable, informal way, we have a conversation about whatever you need support with. Perhaps you’re feeling down, confused or anxious? Or you’re unsure about an upcoming life transition or a relationship? Or you have the impression that you aren’t living the life you wanted.
In sessions, you will have time and space to be heard.
Therapy is a process of self-discovery, growth and positive change in which we work together as equals.
I will listen carefully without making judgments. I will help you to tell me what’s on your mind. If your feelings are confusing, then talking about them can bring more clarity. Sharing your experience, thoughts & emotions is the first step to making more sense of what is happening to you. Together, we uncover patterns of behaviour so that you can understand yourself and your relationships better. Pain, sadness, confusion and anxieties become more manageable as we explore better coping strategies.
Being a foreigner has made me aware of my own otherness. It showed me the profound implications of feelings of discrimination. It made me appreciative of diversity in all its forms and taught me how culture-bound even counselling theories and practice are. To support Muslim clients better, I therefore joined a cpcab accredited faith-based therapy training where I trained with the pioneers of Islamic Counselling trainings in the UK.
If you want to experience how talking can help you feel better, more valued and alive, please contact me.

GETTING IN TOUCH
Asking for help takes a lot of courage.
Research shows that people make the best therapeutic progress when they feel that they have a good working relationship with a trustworthy therapist, irrespective of the particular therapeutic approach. I therefore encourage my clients to choose a therapist with whom they really feel comfortable, safe and at ease. Book a first session to see if I am THIS person for you.
Before making their first appointment, many clients prefer to speak to me. Please do not hesitate to contact me at claire.migraconsult@outlook.com so that we can arrange for an informal and free-of-charge conversation.
