About me and my therapy practice

I am a psychologist and addiction counsellor, offering both short- and long-term counselling and psychotherapy tailored to each client's unique needs. My approach integrates various therapeutic techniques to provide comprehensive support.

In my practice, I centre my therapeutic approach around cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) to address current challenges and assist clients in identifying and modifying unhelpful thought patterns with more adaptive alternatives. By focussing on the present moment and thoughts-behaviour-emotional connections, CBT aims to facilitate meaningful changes in behaviour. Moreover, I incorporate a person-centred, humanistic approach in therapy, emphasising the core conditions of empathy, genuineness, and unconditional positive regard. I prioritise respecting the client's autonomy and acknowledging their expertise by meeting them where they are in their journey. In addition to my integrative therapeutic approach, I also incorporate psychodynamic techniques that delve into clients' childhood experiences to gain insight into their current behaviours on a deeper level. As an NLP practitioner and performance coach, I leverage neuro-linguistic programming to help clients enhance their communication skills, thought patterns, and behavioural responses. Furthermore, I integrate transactional analysis into my therapy sessions, utilising this additional therapeutic model to explore interpersonal dynamics and communication styles for a comprehensive and effective therapeutic process.

I am a member of professional organisations, including the British Psychological Society (BPS), the Federation of Drug & Alcohol Professionals (FDAP), now known as "Addiction Professionals," and a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). My extensive experience within the NHS since 2013 has primarily involved providing individual therapy for addiction-related concerns and conducting psycho-educational group therapy sessions.

Practice description

The sessions primarily take place online, making them more cost-effective. I appreciate being able to offer my clients additional time at no extra charge!

My therapeutic expertise encompasses addressing a wide range of issues such as depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, assertiveness, shame, guilt, drug and alcohol addiction, relapse prevention, and coping strategies. I strive to create a safe, confidential, and non-judgemental space for each individual's personal growth and healing journey.

In addition to English, I am fluent in Persian/Farsi and Turkish, allowing me to effectively communicate and connect with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds. Currently, I am diligently working towards completing my PhD training, further enhancing my knowledge and skills to better support those seeking therapy and counselling services.
