About me and my therapy practice

I am a qualified counsellor and CBT therapist. I specialise in post-rehab recovery issues and trauma, helping you to navigate feelings of shame, guilt and blame. Focusing on empowering you in developing coping strategies that can enhance your recovery journey. I work remotely via zoom/telephone and in person offering a safe space for exploration with easy access in the centre of Middleton. All formats are equally valued for connecting and working together.

As an integrative counsellor I work to suit your needs using a combination of the Person Centred and CBT approaches.

I offer a safe environment providing compassion and empathy enabling you to talk through your problems without judgement. This brings clarity and perspective in a way that can facilitate self-healing, change and personal growth.

You are at the centre of our work together which enables me to gain a depth of understanding of what it is like to be you. I am passionate about sharing your journey, aiming to understand you and your world.

Practice description

The modalities I use are:

Person centred Approach

A non-directive approach where you direct the sessions as a means to discover your own way of being, bringing validation, insight and self-discovery. The therapeutic relationship is fundamental and forms the backbone of our work together. I will listen without judgement, walk beside you through your development as you grow and gain insight and understanding.

CBT

Is a more directive approach in which the therapeutic relationship remains fundamental in building trust as we work together in understanding your problems. CBT can facilitate an empowering experience as you begin to gain insight into your problems. We will work together developing interventions such as coping strategies that can be used both outside of therapy and after therapy sessions have ended. CBT works with how our thoughts and our corresponding emotional reactions ties us in to restrictive or unhealthy behaviour.

My first session

I offer a free 30 minute consultation via the telephone, to enable you to decide if I am the right counsellor for you. It will also enable me to understand the reason for you to reach out, and if I have the capacity to help.

Our first session will involve going through the contract and an assessment which brings further insight into how I can help you. This also enables you to ask any questions that may arise about my service, how I can help you or anything else.
