About me and my therapy practice
My name is Philip and I work as a NARM Therapist, I support people to explore and understand what they are struggling with or what is getting in their way
I support people to develop better emotional regulation, insight and awareness.
I have many years of experience of working with anxiety, depression and addiction, also personality disorders.
I work creatively, using my training in "Brainspotting" therapy and using my skills as a provider of the SSP (safe and sound protocol) to support people to overcome their habitual emotional dis-regulation and behavioural patterns.
I use all of my knowledge and training to help others unlock their potential and begin to thrive.
Practice description
I work online via Zoom.
I also have limited access to a face to face space in Newport for in- person sessions.
We can have a 15 minute initial consultation to work out what you want from your therapy. (no charge)
If we choose to work together we will set up a contract that we will stick to in order to give us stability and commitment.
My first session
In our first session we spend some time getting to know each other and settling into the new experience.
I will take some details from you and then we will open up a space for you to consider what you want for yourself from your therapy.
This will be a new opportunity to really consider and connect to what is a profound question.

Practice description
I work with internal conflicts around feeling emotions, attachment distortions, self confidence and the fear of being authentic..
Essentially the core conflict is the fear that if we show our true, authentic self, we will lose the love and attachment of our caregivers, these patterns begin as adaptive survival patterns from our childhood.
As children, when we feel that our true selves aren’t welcome in our families—when we sense that we cannot fully belong as we are—our survival instinct kicks in. We learn to recognize which parts of ourselves are acceptable and which are unwelcome. Over time, we’ll disconnect from those rejected parts. This disconnection process is a survival strategy that helps us avoid the pain of abandonment or rejection.
Take a moment to consider something we’ve all experienced: the difficulty in speaking up when a situation is bothering us, like with a waiter in a restaurant or a clerk at a store. Even though no one expects us to form deep attachments to these people, many of us struggle to express dissatisfaction when the situation warrants it. Our core conflict can subtly resurface in these seemingly small moments, revealing how deeply abandonment anxiety has embedded itself into our behaviors and bodies.
As we move into more emotionally intimate relationships—whether with friends, family, or romantic partners—the core conflict of abandonment anxiety often becomes more pronounced. The deeper we care, the more sensitive we become to the parts of ourselves we've learned to disconnect from.
We are not resigned to living inside of our abandonment anxiety for the rest of our lives, though, a critical first step in healing from this core conflict is awareness. Bringing awareness around where, how, and why these patterns of disconnection surface in our adult lives can eventually help give us more space and choice in our participation in the patterns. Growing our awareness of these strategies is key to shifting them.
My first session
In our first session we will settle in and get a feel for the space, ask questions and I will hopefully get a sense of what you want for yourself.

About me and my therapy practice
Working in Cardiff, and online in the UK
Hi, my name is Philip,
My name is Philip and I work as a NARM Therapist, I support people to explore and understand what they are struggling with or what is getting in their way.
NARM is a cutting edge model for working Psychosomatically with our relational and emotional difficulties. (mind and body)
I have many years of experience of working with anxiety, depression, addiction shame and guilt, self sabotaging behaviours, isolation and withdrawal, boundaries.
I work creatively, using my skills as a "Brainspotting" therapist to support connection to deeply held emotional barriers.
I am also a provider of the SSP (safe and sound protocol) to support people to overcome their habitual emotional dis-regulation and behavioural patterns related to threat response.
I can help you understand the dynamics of your symptoms and access the internal processes that drive them.
I know how tough it can be to take that first step into therapy and I also know that we all want different things, but a warm friendly welcome really helps to start off with.
My practice is currently online and in person.
I have a warm, quiet and welcoming space in Cardiff City Centre, close to the university and with nice coffee shops close by for that pre or post session hot drink.
I would love to meet you, get to know you and share your journey.
With Gratitude, Philip.
