About me and my therapy practice
As your counsellor, my role is to help you change the circumstances in your life that have become obstacles to living a fulfilling life. We will focus on improving these difficulties that hold you back in life. I believe counselling can help people improve their relationships and strengthen their skills and personalities. My passion is to help people overcome their problems and live a satisfying life.
Coming to therapy and opening up can be a challenging decision to make. Yet, it is important to stop any problems fester and prevent them from taking control over your relationships and life. I value this decision and provide a secure environment where you can feel listened to and accepted for who you are.
Counselling and psychotherapy benefit people with different problems and different backgrounds. Each person processes challenges in life in a unique way. The goal of our work will be to understand all aspects of yourself, to develop self-compassion, and the freedom to resolve conflicts in new ways.
Practice description
After completing my undergraduate studies abroad in psychology, I gained experience as a psychologist in an addiction service and psychiatric hospital. My role was to support and help people – individually and in group sessions – that struggled with emotional difficulties and addiction.
I completed my training in counselling and psychotherapy and graduated with a Master’s degree from the University of Edinburgh. As part of my training, I had a placement at Hope Park Counselling Centre and was trained in Psychodynamic and Person-Centred modalities. I have also volunteered for charities based in Edinburgh that specialise in helping trauma survivors and people from lower-income backgrounds.
I am a psychodynamic practitioner based in Edinburgh and work with adults who experience depression and anxiety, relationship and family difficulties, bereavement/grief, abuse and trauma, emotional difficulties, loss of meaning in life, feelings of loneliness/isolation, and personality problems. I am also a partner psychotherapist for the Joshua Nolan Foundation that supports people who struggle with suicidal thoughts.
