About me and my therapy practice
You may be feeling life is just too much to manage, or perhaps something from your past may be impacting on how you are feeling today.
Taking the first step in acknowledging you might benefit from obtaining support from someone outside your family or friends, takes courage. Counselling can be challenging, but rewarding, as we explore together how you are feeling right now and how you would like to feel in the future.
I'm a warm, interested and accepting psychotherapeutic counsellor. My aim is to create a safe environment where you can come and talk confidentially, without judgement, about whatever is troubling you or causing you distress.
As an integrative therapist, I use different therapeutic approaches, which allow me to tailor my work to you, my client, individually. I believe that the therapeutic relationship that is created between us will allow us to work together, leading you to gain more insight, self-awareness and self-understanding.
I will support you to express difficult feelings and emotions that you may have never felt able to talk about or acknowledge before.
Practice description
I am a fully trained, qualified and experienced psychotherapeutic counsellor.
I am also BACP-accredited, meeting the BACP’s higher standard for competent, ethical and independent practitioners.
My counselling training commenced in 2010 with a Certificate in Counselling: humanistic and psychodynamic theory and I have a first class honours degree in Integrative-Relational Counselling.
I have a Certificate in Relationship Therapy (COSRT accredited) for working with couples and I also offer online and telephone counselling (approved by ACTO).
In addition to my private practice, my experience has included working in an NHS GP practice and workplace counselling service offering therapeutic support to a range of adults and older adults.
I am an approved provider of therapeutic services for the following Private Medical Insurers: Aetna International, Allianz, Aviva, AXA PPP Healthcare, BUPA, Cigna, Healix and Vitality Health.
Prior to my counselling career, I worked for a number of large FTSE 100 companies with the health and care sector and have a Business Management degree, so am well able to understand workplace issues.
My first session
I offer face-to-face sessions, subject to neither party having symptoms of Covid-19, plus online or telephone sessions, during the day and evenings.
I offer a warm, open and supportive relationship and will treat you with sensitivity and care, giving you the time and space to explore what is going on for you, to feel heard and understood.
Our first session together will allow us to see if we are a good fit for one another and from the very first session together, start to build a trusting therapeutic relationship, as a basis for ongoing therapy.
Individuals: initial consultation fee is £65. Thereafter, my fee is £75 per 50 minute session. I also offer a limited number of low cost places to students and trainees.
Couples: initial consultation fee is £75. Thereafter, my fee is £90 per 50 minute session.
