I do not offer weekend appointments. Counselling sessions are mainly telephone or online.
I provide minimal face to face sessions. These tend to take place on a Tuesday.
About me and my therapy practice
Taking that first step to contact a counsellor can be daunting however, there are moments in many people's lives when external events can feel overwhelming. You may be feeling low and unhappy yet not able to understand why. You may have experienced a bereavement or a life changing event in your life. You may be experiencing anxiousness or withdrawal from day to day life. You may just need a space to stop, reflect and talk freely.
As a Person Centred Counsellor I believe each person is the expert in their own life 'It is the client who knows what hurts, what directions to go, what problems are crucial, what experiences have been deeply buried' (Carl Rogers)
Our therapeutic relationship will be underpinned by trust, empathy, unconditional positive regard and genuineness.
I will actively listen, reflect and provide a supportive, caring and non-judgemental space to enable you to collect your thoughts and talk about anything that is troubling you. The sessions will give you space and time to think about yourself and your needs.
Together, we will work at your pace and explore any trauma, loss, past hurts and difficulties you may be experiencing and begin to untangle your world.
Practice description
Training, qualifications & experience
My background in Social Care and Training and Development for a number of years showed me everyone is unique and their experiences are individual to their lives. My belief is that mental health labels do not define a person and are often an outcome of what has happened or is happening to that person.
I volunteered with a bereavement agency called Cruse Scotland for 6 years until 2021. I previously worked and volunteered with a domestic abuse service and a mental health association.
I actively support a group called 'Drop the Disorder'. 'Emotions are not illnesses'. I work holistically with the 'whole person' and not labels. I actively listen about lifetime events and adversities in a supportive, caring, non-judgemental, non pathologising way. 'It is not what is wrong with you but what has happened to you'
As a member of BACP I attend regular training, read books and articles and meet with a supervisor on a monthly basis.

My first session
I offer a free initial telephone consultation. This gives you the opportunity to find out a little about me and talk a little about yourself and what you would like to achieve from counselling. It also means your first session can be a little less daunting.
The therapeutic relationship is extremely important. You may wish to immediately make an appointment for your first counselling session or take some time to reflect and contact me at a later date. I look forward to working with you.
Prior to your first session I will send out an agreement/contract and ask that you read this over.
Sessions can be weekly or 2 weekly.
Sometimes a longer term client may want occasional sessions on an adhoc basis or monthly basis.
My telephone and online hourly rate is £40 to £45 per hour
Face to face sessions are charged at £50 per hour.
