About me and my therapy practice

Hi, my name is Liz and I am an experienced accredited BACP registered counsellor working in Private Practice and also for the NHS.

My area of work includes anxiety, depression, self esteem, adolescent issues,  perinatal mental health, bereavement & loss, still birth, miscarriage & birth trauma.

Suffering from emotional distress can be overwhelming & coming to see a counsellor can seem scary, however talking to a counsellor is your first step towards change.

My aim is to provide you with a welcoming, non judgemental and confidential space that allows you to gently explore your feelings and emotions that you may have found hard to share with others.

Together we can process these emotions or experiences and begin to make sense of them. Counselling offers you the opportunity to look at your thoughts and feelings from a different perspective and identify any unhealthy thinking patterns or behaviours that don't sit right for you.

I am a warm and genuine counsellor who offers clients a relationship based on empathic understanding.

How I work

I am extremely passionate about mental health and emotional well-being and strongly believe that a empathic therapeutic relationship can bring about positive change and growth.

I facilitate client change and empowerment by working from a  Person Centred approach

I will shape each session to your needs using the skills and methods that are most effective for you.

I offer both long & short term work both face to face and via Zoom.

Practice description

My therapy room is private and quiet with ample parking.

It meets the government guidelines for social distancing of 2m apart.

It is located in Old Amersham with plenty of parking nearby

My first session

It is normal to feel anxious or unsure about what to expect in your first session.

The first session is a chance for you to meet me and for me to understand what has brought you to counselling.

We can explore what you want to achieve from counselling and how we can work together. I will explain how I work and the type of therapy I offer.

During the session we will go over our working agreement which covers confidentially, safe guarding and privacy policy.

I will gently ask a few questions so I can gain a better insight into your situation and have a thorough understanding of your issues.

You can ask me anything you want to know about my qualifications and experience and anything at all you don't understand.

It is vitally important I am the right counsellor for you.

Your first session is your first step towards change, a journey that will lead you to a deeper, richer more authentic you.
