About me and my therapy practice
Based in York city centre, I am a BACP accredited Counsellor with a Postgraduate Diploma offering support to adults with a wide range of issues.
Perhaps you are struggling with changes that seem out of your control, or with difficult decisions you are trying to work through.
Maybe you feel that you find yourself in the same situations, or that anxiety, low-confidence and low self-esteem are impacting on your daily life.
You may need space to heal after distressing life experiences. Issues that have felt manageable up to now, or felt safely in the past, may have come to the surface.
Having worked in a specialist sexual violence and domestic abuse organisation (Aegis), I have particular experience in supporting clients who experience PTSD, flashbacks and panic attacks. Many people who have experienced abuse struggle with relationships, self-doubt, trust, confusion, shame and with processing their experience.
During my time working in General and Charitable Counselling Organisations and a Drug and Alcohol Recovery Service, I also have experience working with a broad spectrum of issues including depression, anxiety, bereavement, self-harm and suicidal ideation.
My aim is to provide a safe, confidential space where we can work at a pace that feels right for you. Together we will work alongside one another to help you make sense of your experiences, thoughts and feelings.
As an Integrative Humanistic counsellor, I will draw on counselling approaches most suited to your needs and find a way of working that is tailored to you. I will not give advice or opinions, but together we will build a therapeutic relationship, where you can be assured your thoughts and emotions will be truly heard and understood with respect and without judgement.
Our initial consultation session is free of charge with no obligation. You will choose whether counselling is on a long or short term basis.
Practice description
My practice is within The Priory Centre in York however, I also provide online sessions via Zoom and telephone counselling.
