About me and my therapy practice
I can support you in your grief, especially if you are finding that you have no peace or meaning in your life. My name is Barbara and I am experienced in working with grief and know how someone's life can be left shattered after a loss. I also have a keen interest in Type 1 Diabetes and working with people who live with it, to have that shared experience.
My work is person-centred, meaning that I will always have your best interests at the heart of what I do.
Practice description
My journey to become a counsellor was driven by my own life's experiences, and I too sought counselling to help me explore my feelings. Finding the right counsellor was the best investment I made for my self-care. If you are struggling because of a loss, I could be the person for you.
I can't 'fix' what has happened to you but I can certainly 'be' with you and help you to make some sense of things; allowing you a non-judgemental, confidential space over video (preferred WhatsApp). I work with anticipatory grief and bereavement and have worked voluntarily for a local hospice, helping patients and families who are living with terminal illnesses.
My career and personal experience has taught me how loss is a very individual thing and not everybody will grieve in the same way. Whatever your situation, you will need empathy and support; both of which you will get from me.
My first session
Your first session will be free. This should take around 15 to 20 minutes, just so that we can see each other, introduce ourselves, and break that barrier of nervousness or the 'not knowing' before we arrange further sessions.
