About me and my therapy practice

I offer Confidential Therapeutic Counselling where we can build trust, from experiencing a warm friendly and natural authentic relationship that will give you a safe space to explore your feelings and thoughts. This is a non judgemental space. Where you can find your inner power, self-control, self belief, self confidence; your truth and most importantly find your self-worth and self-acceptance. This sometimes can be a painful journey, but also a rewarding one. I will mostly be your guide to help you work things out to find the answers that you are seeking at your own pace. In helping you find confidence and trust in your own voice

I am an experienced addictions counsellor, supporting people with a wide range of mental, emotional and addictive issues for many years. I am an experienced 1-2-1 and group worker. I have a particular interest in working with people who have experienced any kind of abuse. In particular sexual abuse, and the related trauma that comes with this type of abuse, as well as inner child work.

My session allows important supportive time for yourself with an empathic professional who can help you find your way through your difficulties. Working together towards a deeper understanding of yourself - to gain a clearer awareness of what feels right for you and a greater sense of your own inner resources and self-compassion

Counselling provides time to reflect, explore and be heard. I like to work in away that focuses on the here and now, with being curious about what is happening in the body, as well as what is happening between the client and the therapist in the session. I believe working in this way promotes self-healing and learning. I trust the path to any wellness and vitality is living in the moment, to connect with self, and to find connection with others

I have my own private practice in Clay Bottom, which is close to Eastville, fishponds, and St George.

Practice description

I am a person-centred integrative counsellor, which basically means that I have many theories, tools, and techniques to pull from in a holistic way depending on the needs of the individual. The important element is that there is time and space for you to off load and work through the issues that arise in a session. I will often invite ways of working to see what feels right for you, always your choice, and at your pace and readiness.

My first session

I will outline a few basic details at the beginning of the session, and then over to you to tell me what has brought you to counselling and what issues or areas you would like to focus on in our sessions. This is a taster of getting to know how I work and how this relationship feels to see if I’m the right therapist for you. You are not obliged to decide there and then whether you want to continue, until you have taken time to process the session and have come back to me. I use the last 15 minutes of the first session to run through my contract that I email to you after our session.

Remember I do offer a free 15-20 minute telephone consultation in the first instance where desired. Concessions maybe available through mutual agreement that will start after our first session, if decide to continue.
