About me and my therapy practice
I qualified as a mental health nurse in 1984, have studied various therapeutic approaches and completed my integrative counselling training in 2018.
I'm originally from East London and have lived and worked in London, Essex, Somerset and Devon.
I am registered with and work to the ethical codes of both the Nursing and Midwifery Council and British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy.
I continue to work part time in the NHS and in my private practice.
Although I can draw on or inform the therapy with CBT, DBT and MBT theory I use my training, experience and skills to be as individual a therapist as you are a person.
I adapt to the person I'm working with and am there to help you find your way through. There's only one you and one size does not fit all. I have a diverse group of clients and work with a range of issues including diagnosed mental and physical health difficulty.
Practice description
I aim to provide a place you can feel safe, comfortable and able to talk at your pace.
I offer an experienced, registered, qualified and professional therapy service.
It's a space to explore and work things out together, where I will be interested and curious about you, kind and compassionate to you. Perhaps offer other perspectives and gentle challenges.
I have well over the 1000 hours of practice which usually meets the criteria for me to offer therapy to trainee therapists please check with your education institute. Also check requirements if you are looking for a supervisor. There is a discount for trainees.
I am listed with Psychology Today and with Psychology Associates.
I do have limited concession spaces with a current waiting list.
My preference is to work with all my clients face to face. I use telephone and virtual (zoom or teams) for occasional sessions.
Rarely I can work at a clients home depending on circumstances, it is usually better to meet in a dedicated therapy room. I can book an accessible room.
My fee is from £65.00 depending on need and any reports that might be requested.
You are welcome as you, all difference is part of life's rich tapestry. For your info 🙂 I am a female therapist, white British, identify as she/her, straight and proud of my working class roots.
My first session
There is always an initial first session to check that working with me is the right fit for you, without any obligation to continue if you are not comfortable. It's important you find someone you can trust and relax with so it's always sensible to have a good look at who is available in your area.
There is an assessment in the first session and I give you information in the session and to take away.
We agree the day and time for future therapy and also payment.
