About me and my therapy practice
I describe myself as an Integrative Therapist using a variety of therapeutic models. These include Humanistic Person Centred Approach, Psychodynamic and Brief Solution Focused Therapy. In addition to these, I also draw from Transactional Analysis, Mindfulness, and Psycho Educational techniques. Psycho Educational techniques provide information and support to better understand how and why we may face difficulties and how these may impact on us. As a result of this, we are empowered to use our own inner resources to achieve well-being. Often when we understand, anxiety and fear are diminished.
My belief is that a bespoke approach for each therapeutic relationship is essential and enriches the therapeutic journey. An awareness to the evolving needs of clients at different stages of the journey underpins my work further.
I am a member of BACP and I am fully insured for public liability as well as professional indemnity. As part of my ethical approach, I adhere to regular clinical supervision as recommended by BACP to enhance my clinical practice. In addition to this, I am constantly updating my knowledge through Continuing Professional Development courses as a commitment to my work and to my clients.
I am passionate about my role as a Counsellor and believe my experience of working in a client focused role over the last 30 years has strengthened my ability to form strong therapeutic relationships.
I feel I am an instinctive and gentle therapist and create a healing and safe space for you to explore your feelings and thoughts in a timely manner.
I have experience of working in an educational setting with people with special educational needs.
