About me and my therapy practice
Sometimes it helps to talk, and sometimes it can help to talk to somebody who is impartial, non-judgemental, and in confidence.
I can help you with any emotional problems you may have, and together we can explore those issues. I will not tell you what to do, but I will listen and understand life from your point of view, as I ensure you feel heard and valued.
I work with a pluralistic approach, combining person centred counselling with other brief interventions and tools from CBT, NLP, EFT, neuroscience, coaching, and solution focused hypnotherapy.
I offer an approach that encourages you to explore thoughts, feelings and emotions in a confidential environment. I am a voluntary counsellor with Macmillan and Anxiety UK and a volunteer listener and mentor with Samaritans. I also run my own private practice based from Timperley.
Counselling can help to unlock new ways of doing things and support you, as you find your own solutions to your problems and make the most of your life. The benefit of this type of counselling is that clients are helped to become more self-aware, and more in control of creating positive changes. It is based on a humanistic philosophy that every individual has the ability to create a more satisfying way of life.
Person centred counselling offers a non-judgemental approach to help you to find personal solutions, and it avoids any kind of analysis. Instead, the client benefits from unconditional positive regard, empathy and congruence. These core conditions help to create a positive, firm foundation for a trusting therapeutic relationship.
Talking is priceless. No problem is too big or too small.
If you feel that talking to somebody who is non-judgemental, impartial, and in confidence might help, then please feel free to book a complementary initial phone call on the ‘Book Now’ button on my webpage. There's no better time to start than today.
My first session
I offer a free initial consultation as a first session. This lasts 30 minutes, and we cover various information gathering, and an explanation of how the brain works to create anxiety, anger, and depression. This is a very helpful therapeutic tool in it's own right. It helps clients to understand why they feel like they do, and more importantly, what they can do about it.
I also include a couple of different outcome measures so we can collaborate over your progress and see your progress in graphical format. I like to work collaboratively with clients, and I hope with our first meeting it will set the scene for a positive therapeutic relationship.
