About me and my therapy practice
I work privately as an Integrative Talking Therapist which means I use a wide range of therapy styles to suit my client's individual needs. These include play therapy approaches that are particularly helpful when supporting children as I have a particular interest in the link between anxiety and pain having worked in close partnership with a Paediatric Gastroenterologist. I am also a Certified Psychosexual Counsellor working with Individuals and Couples in this challenging and delicate field of Therapy. I believe the relationship that we will develop is the single most important part of our work together. Some clients want help with situations they currently find themselves in, whilst others understand they need support to address issues that may have started in their past and continue to affect them and this is where a Psychodynamic approach is the preferred model. Whatever your reason for getting in touch, I can assure you my full attention in a confidential setting, with no judgement and the highest standards of ethical care.
If you would like a brief chat before making any decisions I am more than happy to do this and any plans and charges for counselling will be agreed prior to sessions starting as I understand this can be a daunting time and I would like to help you to feel as comfortable as possible, whether therapy is for yourself or a child.
Practice description
When conducting Face to Face sessions I work from my own Therapy Room in Billericay rather than from home as I feel this neutral space works best for myself and my clients. The room is secure and we cannot be overheard. I hope you will feel comfortable as it is modern and uncluttered without feeling sterile. There is ample parking and links to public transport are close by, which is important if you are feeling a little anxious about what to expect and how to get to me. For remote sessions I will use a private space in which to log on and would ask that you do too.
My first session
Generally my first session will be an assessment where I will take some basic information from you. More importantly however, it will give you the opportunity to find out whether you feel comfortable. It is so important to find the right Therapist and this allows you the opportunity to do so with no obligation. I will always run through with you how sessions work, and happily answer any questions prior to this assessment so hopefully you will feel as confident as possible by the time we meet. This assessment will be charged at the standard agreed session rate.
