About me and my therapy practice

Sometimes life can look rosy to the outside world but our internal world can look and feel very different.   Maybe you are hiding how  flat, exhausted, low, angry or unfulfilled you are feeling. Perhaps you feel like you are spinning out of control. Leaving you uncertain,  unsettled and unable to relax.

It could be that you are pleasing others all the time, scared of saying what you really want. Or you feel like you’ve lost sight of who you are, unsure of what you truly want from life.

Maybe you are snapping at the people around you, constantly pushing people away and yet feeling so lonely. Unsure of where you belong but feeling like you have to fix it on your own.

Perhaps you dread night times or weekends because relaxation or sleep seem so far away and keeping busy seems like the only option.

You might want to feel calmer, be more able to relax and rebuild relationships with those around you. To feel more at peace in your own mind and body.

Therapy offers a consistent, protected oasis in our ever busy and fast changing world. A place of calm where you can find comfort in sharing your story, begin to set boundaries and rebuild relationships with yourself and those in your life.

I have experience in supporting people of various ages, genders and backgrounds with a wide range of issues. I have worked extensively with those who have experienced trauma, grief, sexual abuse, depression and anxiety, identity and relationship issues.

I have a particular interest in working with those who grew up in a boarding school environment or those who experienced separation from their parents in childhood.  I have completed specialist training in this area with Nick Duffell.

Practice description

I offer counselling in person and online (via zoom) or by phone.

Appointments are available during the daytime (9am - 6pm) Tuesday - Friday.

I am based just outside Chorley, within easy reach of the M6, M61 and M65. Free parking is available on site. I am within easy reach of public transport.

My first session

I invite you to arrange a free introductory call (either by phone or by zoom).

Typically an introductory call lasts 20 - 30 minutes, I will ask you about for a little background about yourself and what's bringing you to seek therapy just now.  It's an opportunity for us to get to know each other, for you can ask any questions you might have and for us to see if the way that I work is a good fit for you.

About me and my therapy practice

I see supervision as an opportunity for you to take a step back and together reflect on your client relationships. A place to work through ethical dilemmas or anything you might be finding challenging or demanding and to celebrate progression.

My aim is to provide a safe, compassionate, collaborative, and supportive environment which offers exploration and supportive challenge. I will work hard to honour your unique style, wellbeing, growth and professional development whilst keeping your clients at the very heart of our work together.

I use the Seven-Eyed model of supervision developed by Peter Hawkins to underpin my supervision practice. I work in a supervisee centred way.

I am an Accredited Member of the BACP, and work within their Ethical Framework and Professional Conduct Procedure.

Qualifications

• BSc (Hons) in Person Centred Counselling & Psychotherapy (University of Derby)

• PG Cert in Clinical Supervision (University of Derby)

• Certificate in Couples and Relationship Counselling

• Psychotherapy training with Nick Duffel working with Boarding School Survivors

I regularly undertake additional CPD training to keep my knowledge up to date.

I work solely in private practice, working with people who have experienced bereavement, burnout or trauma and abuse, including Boarding School survivors.

I am committed to offering supervision in an anti-discriminatory way. I work with people of all genders, ages, abilities / disabilities, cultures, neurodiversity, ethnicity, sexes, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, class, and socio-economic groups.
