A Boat Time Therapy is committed to supporting you post- COVID, the" new normal". I know this can be a time of heightened anxiety, worry and loneliness. For many people, access to professional help is needed now, more than ever. For this reason, I am offering online and telephone appointments. These options are a useful alternative to traditional therapeutic settings. If these options do not fit your needs I also offer daytime walk and talk sessions in nature , but it's not suitable for everyone. I highly recommend you get in touch with your doctor or emergency services in your area if you feel particularly distressed at any time.
About me and my therapy practice
I’m a registered, compassionate, empathic and experienced therapist. That is committed in offering you warmth and understanding , without being judgmental.
This will support you to feel comfortable, safe and confident to express your true personality, difficulties and emotions.
I believe no one therapy holds all the answers. I use some of the most effective therapy methods available in counselling today including :
* Humanistic
* Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
* Nature Therapy
In counselling my role is to create a sense of trust and confidence such that you feel safe and in which you can express your feelings and gain deeper insight into your difficulties.
The aim is to help you find better ways to understand yourself, or to bring about changes to help you manage the way you think or behave to improve your mental and emotional well-being.
I offer a free initial 30 minute consultation on the phone.
This provides you with the opportunity to ask questions, meet me, learn about my services, and decide if you think I am the right therapist for you and your situation.
Please call or text me with any therapy or counselling related questions, I will endeavor to reply within 24 hours.
Practice description
I believe the therapeutic relationship itself is essential to the success of your experience of counselling. Some studies have even called it the most important common factor in successful outcomes.
I care deeply about the relationship I establish with the people who come to see/talk to me in therapy. I appreciate the unique essence of a person and I'm grateful to play any role in their therapeutic journey towards becoming the only thing any of us can hope to be: our real selves.
Because to heal a problem with relationships, you need to experience a kind, caring and accepting relationship with another.
I will initially offer up to 12 sessions at times and dates agreed between us both and we will review this agreement at the halfway stage. Each session is 50 minutes long and starts on the o'clock.
My first session
Our first meeting should be about sharing information and a time for general exploration and expectations around the counselling process, So I will ask open ended questions.
Each client is unique and brings into counselling different requirements and expectations. I need to tailor our work in that first meeting to fit your individual needs. I will walk you through how therapy/counselling can support you and agree the terms, or contract with you, which will include: practical details , confidentiality, missed appointments etc .
To get the best out of this process it’s important that you have confidence in me and so I will encourage you to ask me questions.
This will give you the necessary information both factual and also from a place of feelings, did you have a sense of connection, safety, and support? to decide whether to go ahead with the therapeutic work .
