About me and my therapy practice
I have over sixteen years of experience of working as a counsellor in Mental health and now as a Counselling Psychologist. I work with clients who may be struggling with anxiety or trauma related to their relationships or family. I have extensive experience of working within the NHS, Off the Record (Bristol) and students in higher education as a counsellor and wellbeing officer.
At times it can be very confusing and frustrating when we can't make sense of our emotions. Maybe it's emptiness, feeling lost or having to deal with a big changes in your life or difficulty in managing or understanding relationship issues. Whether you're feeling stuck or overwhelmed, I welcome you to get in touch. I offer a calm safe space where together we can find clarity on what has brought you to seek counselling. My authentic, warm and inclusive approach helps to create a non-judgemental environment.
Maybe this is your first time thinking about seeking support or maybe you have had it in the past and want to revisit some of the issues. I understand there may be some apprehension therefore I offer free half an hour consultation over the phone for you to see how it feels. I offer both face to face and online sessions.
My core intention is to help build a supportive therapeutic relationship that promotes clients’ wellbeing and healing. I am an integrative counsellor and I specialise in working from relational psychodynamic model and CBT. I hope to provide a safe space for my clients where we can explore and work through the struggles and challenges they are experiencing.
Practice description
I also specialise in working with clients from South-Asian backgrounds where I have worked with clients who have experienced difficulties and issues linked to identity, and meeting cultural pressures and expectations. I work collaboratively with my clients in an effort to understand how they construe their inner reality and life experiences, enabling them to move towards a choice.
At the heart of my counselling is a commitment to developing a relationship where my clients feel safe, listened and understood. I am culturally sensitive, open-minded and receptive to new ideas in order to be able to provide an inclusive service. In addition to English, I also to speak Urdu, Hindi and Punjabi.
