About me and my therapy practice
I believe that human beings are made up of physical, emotional, psychological, social and spiritual (not necessarily religious) elements and when these are in conflict this can cause distress.
I can can give you the safe space to be ‘heard’ and to observe the more subtle signals that your own body, brain and intuition will signal. It’s not advice - it’s about finding the way forward that suits you as an emotional, physical and thinking human being. Sharing your thoughts and feelings with another in a safe way without judgement can be very enlightening and helpful in finding the way forward to more contentment.
I am a fully qualified counsellor to CPCAB Level 5 (in Psychotherapeutic Counselling) and also hold a qualification in Bereavement . I am also particularly interested in exploring the distressing effects of trauma (perhaps from childhood) and loss and helping people to work through them. I work in a person-centred mode and also like to introduce creative methods where it might be helpful.
Practice description
I can work online (usually Zoom), I have a private room set apart in my home for counselling or have a local therapy room that I can hire if preferred. I am open to flexible hours to fit around client's working hours and shifts.
I understand that choosing a counsellor is an important decision and I am happy to accommodate a free-of-charge 20-30 minute online meeting in order for us to see if my way of working will suit.
My first session
Other than the introductory session, the first session will normally be either online or in a rented private therapy room in Great Malvern. After that, we could continue online or at the Therapy Room in my home if preferred (at a slight discount to be discussed).
I appreciate this can be daunting but the first session is normally about clarifying the expectations for the counselling and getting an overview of the issues causing you distress. It is also an opportunity for me to take down basic details about yourself and talk about anything that may impact on the counselling, for example any medication you may be taking. It is quite a gentle process and (within guidelines) completely confidential so there should be nothing to worry about.
