About me and my therapy practice

Hi,   In therapy the deep-seated emotions, fears or habits that may be causing you problems will be constructively and compassionately heard and attended to.   I have worked in many different environments and continue to work with a wide range of clients from young people upwards.  I am fully qualified and registered with and Accredited by the BACP.

Counselling/Psychotherapy is a confidential space where you can feel safe and valued and so able to explore more deeply what is going on for you.  With experience of yoga and meditation practices as well my own personal therapy and a wide life-experience, and having myself at different times suffered a number of significant conditions, I feel I am able to also bring to my practice all that I too am as a person.

Practice description

My core training is Person-Centred into which I also incorporate my training in and study of Psychodynamic, Psychoanalytic, Cognitive, Attachment, Trauma and Jungian approaches. In the 'safe' environment of the therapy room I can assist you to find again that agency and confidence that may be key to the change you seek. Often we come to therapy in order to discover why we come to therapy. It is a journey and one that is not always easy.  I see my job not as a means to 'fixing' you as though you were a machine, but to accompany you collaboratively as you find your way towards a more embodied, even spiritual understanding and awareness that can lead to significant movement.  In the Person-Centred approach, every individual is seen as having the potential and natural inclination towards healthy development when in an environment that promotes this, freed from judgement and fear.

My first session

When you first contact me I will give you the option of a telephone conversation so that we can discuss whether you think I am the right therapist for you.  I work both short term and more psychotherapeutically long-term. There is no commitment required for how long you remain in therapy.  In our first session we can discuss whether you wish to think about how many sessions you want or if you want to work open-ended.

Our sessions will be an hour in length. That hour is there for you. This means that there is no pressure on you to perform or be a certain way.

What is paramount for me is that you feel at ease in our sessions and so the manner in which we work will be dictated by your own needs and goals.
