Availability
My general availability is late afternoons and early evenings Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
I also have sessions on a Friday morning fortnightly.
We will work out the frequency of sessions after discussion- I recognise that therapy is a financial investment, and affordability sometimes dictates how often we might meet
About me and my therapy practice
I recognise how challenging seeking support can be. I aim to offer a safe space for you to explore the issues which are causing you distress, without judgment. For you to have got to this page is the first brave step to reaching out, please contact me if you would like to discuss your needs further, and how counselling could help.
Once you send an email or make a call I usually respond within 24 hours.
Practice description
We can work together one the phone, or on video or in person. Whatever medium you prefer we always work with you at the centre. We can talk about what has happened to you, and find ways to support you to work through these things and support you to work towards the future you envisage. So often where we "are" is not "where we thought we might be", or doesn't "feel" the way we thought it would. When difficult things have happened to us, we might find a disconnect between what we "think" and how we feel inside. We might feel numb or experience such intensity of overwhelming feelings in our body that we are not sure what to "do with them"
So often in life we feel the pressure to have the answers, to have a route, a map written out. In my practice I create a space where you can bring the tangle of thoughts, feelings and experiences and begin to untangle them and make sense of them together. A space where you can hear yourself, and make sense of this, we walk together where you want to go, and discover on the way. This may allow you to find routes on your map you didn't know existed, or even a new map altogether
I am a qualified EMDR therapist which can be useful when we are working with trauma.
My first session
Our first session is a little different to future sessions. I will tell you about what I offer, and we will talk through confidentiality (and its limits), data protection so you are confident of what I do with your information, and how I keep it. We will complete an assessment together. I will ask about the different aspects of your life and experience, and we can get a clear picture of what has happened to date, where you find yourself now, and where you would like to be.
We will then talk through a plan together, this maybe whether I am able to support you, or whether I signpost you to another kind of therapy or therapist, whether it is short term or longer term piece of work, and decide together when, how and the frequency we can meet.
What is most important is that it feels right
