About me and my therapy practice
I am an experienced BACP registered Counsellor, Psychotherapist and Nurse. I have a Masters in Integrative Psychotherapy and Counselling and 20 years of clinical experience in the NHS, including Cancer Care, Chronic Health conditions (including chronic pain) and Anxiety. I am situated Tunbridge Wells, Kent and Mayfield, East Sussex and provide both short term solution based therapy and long term therapy for adults and young people aged 16 and over.
Taking the first step and making initial contact can be difficult. I understand that the thought of sharing painful experiences, fears and expectations may feel daunting, but therapy provides a confidential, warm and supportive space, where you can feel listened to and explore what is going on without judgment.
My Approach to Therapy
As an integrative therapist, I combine different theoretical approaches (humanistic, cognitive behavioural and psychodynamic) to enable a flexible and individual approach to working with each client’s individual needs and goals. I offer both short and long term therapy, depending on each client’s needs and expectations of therapy.
My qualifications include; MA Integrative counselling and Psychotherapy (Roehampton University) 2018, Certificate in Counselling Psychology (City University) 2014 and BSc (Hons) Human Sciences and Nursing 1994. Please contact on 07780680373 or info@penmandich.com or visit my website: https//www.penmandich.com
Practice description
Can Therapy Help?
Do you struggle with racing thoughts or constantly worry about the future? Maybe you feel emotionally imbalanced (either numb or overwhelmed) or feel physical symptoms such as palpitations, muscle tension or a general feeling of dread. Therapy can both help deal with the symptoms of anxiety, as well as unpacking the potential triggers for your difficulties. I can help gain clarity on a situation and offer a new perspective. My role is not to give advice, but to facilitate a better understanding of the choices, motivations and patterns of behaviour that impact on your life. I believe you are the expert on yourself and so my approach is to work together to explore your difficulties and find some resolution. This can include building emotional resilience, making changes in your life or coming to terms with a difficult situation.
Experience and Areas of Interest
I have a broad range of experience and a specific interest in working with people with Anxiety including Health Anxiety, GAD, OCD, Panic, Social Anxiety, Cancer, and other medical conditions that cause psychological distress, such as chronic pain. Additionally, I work with family members dealing with a cancer diagnosis in the family.
Training
I have worked in a large London teaching hospital for 6 years, with clients who have a wide range of mental health conditions. Additionally, I have 16 years of experience in Nursing, specialising in oncology.
Professional Associations
I am a registered member of BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) and I adhere their ethical code of conduct.
Fees
£65-£80 per session, with a review every 4 weeks. Sessions are 50 minutes and normally occur weekly.
