About me and my therapy practice

Life isn’t always easy & sometimes opening up to another person, who is able to help us explore our lives, can help us get things into perspective. It can enable us to prioritise the more important things in life, providing relief from the unstructured turmoil we sometimes find ourselves in.  Listening to your experiences, having the ability to ‘put myself into your shoes’, whilst ensuring a measure of objectivity remains, puts me in the ideal position to enable you to view your life more clearly. It will be your journey, but one I will accompany you on. Ensuring you feel our therapy room is a safe, non-judgemental space to open up in, as well as establishing trust between us, is key. I approach sessions with genuine, sensitive honesty.

Experience: Having worked with many young people & adults in NHS & private practice environments over the last 9 years, I have experience in working with various issues, including those listed below, as well as with clients having broader issues requiring support through difficult times in their lives.  Prior to my counselling career, I worked at corporate level, within FTSE 100 companies, for 20 years.

Approach: Being Humanistically trained, I use the relationship between us to enable the exploration of your difficulties. Once trust is established & the relationship develops, my hope is that you will become comfortable with opening up & exploring your thoughts & feelings with me. I adopt various Humanistic interventions, depending on which seem most appropriate to you individually.

Qualifications: CPCAB Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling; NCFE Levels 1 - 3 in Counselling; BSc (Hons) – Bath University

Clients & sessions: Adults/young people (16 & over), one-to-one.  Daytime sessions available - long/short term, depending on client need.  Secure video link/email/phone sessions & face-to-face.

Practice description

I currently offer online sessions at various points in the day/early evening.  My online practice arose out of COVID restrictions & now I find clients are preferring this mode of counselling more than face-to-face.

My first session

I'm more than happy to have a 'getting to know' you 20 minute free'trial' session, should potential clients feel this would be of benefit to them.  Feeling comfortable with your therapist is essential, so offering such a session is often found helpful.
