About me and my therapy practice
Hello, by engaging in a non-judgemental environment and a supportive relationship, I seek to help you to gain a better understanding of yourself. I provide a safe and confidential space to explore feelings, thoughts and behaviour. I am particularly interested in the person's true nature and full potential.
I have provided focused, short-term counselling and in-depth, open-ended therapy at a GP surgery, privately, in a college and with a trauma recovery organisation.
I am a qualified Person-Centred Counsellor and Psychotherapist, and an accredited member with British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP). My work in counselling is to ensure that I provide a safe, non-judgemental space for my clients to talk through and explore their problems. I work in a non-directive way, which means that my client is at the centre of the therapy and is free to explore their thoughts and feelings, with me supporting them along the way.
Confidentiality is a critical element of working with my clients; at all times your anonymity will be respected by me. This is a key component to the work that I do in counselling and is encompassed within the BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions, to which I adhere to.
Practice description
In a safe and confidential setting, I offer:
• Short term and long term counselling
• Warm, open and non-judgmental support based on your specific needs.
I understand each individual has unique needs and experiences that they bring with them and it is important to give each person the space to tell their own story so that we can identify the best approach to working together.
Perhaps you would like to focus on a specific issue in your life. Or maybe you would like to take the time to explore more deep rooted issues that seem to be affecting your ability to cope in the present. I believe the insight you gain from our work together will enable you to feel more stable in your life and more capable of living it the way that you desire. Working with the right counsellor for you can bring about lasting, positive change.
My first session
I offer a free 20 minute video or telephone consultation for you to ask me any questions, get to know me a bit better, and get a sense of whether are a good fit for each other.
This is an opportunity to see how therapy might benefit you, explore your individual needs and answer any questions you may have. You are under no obligation to continue after this session and what we discuss is private and confidential.
I might ask you to outline why you want to come to counselling, what you would like to get from the process and some basic details about you and your. In subsequent sessions, what we talk about will be guided by you - the time we have together is a chance for you to talk about the things that are important to you.
