About me and my therapy practice
I am a trauma-informed, relational psychotherapist. My practice has been informed by a career of supporting people spanning 26 years. I use evidence-based theory and techniques derived from contemporary trauma research, neuroscience, combined with psychodynamic and humanistic therapies.
I provide opportunities within therapy to create safe spaces with clients. In these safe spaces, we can explore how to develop ways of gaining control of upsetting or disturbing thoughts and feelings: how the past affects our present and how to interrupt repeating cycles of experiences that cause us suffering. In order to provide this form of therapy, I have received rigorous and lengthy evidence-based training at undergraduate and postgraduate and Masters Degree level. I am qualified to work with adults and young people aged 12 and over on a short-term or long-term basis.

About me and my therapy practice
I have specialist training to offer supervision online and by telephone from Wednesday to Friday.
I also work face to face at my office based in East Lancashire, Monday and Wednesday to Friday.
Practice description
In my supervisory practice, I employ the highly regarded seven-eyed model of supervision, enabling a comprehensive exploration of the therapeutic process. Guided by the ethical framework outlined by the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy), I ensure that my practice maintains the highest professional standards.
With over thirty years of experience supporting individuals through emotional challenges and personal struggles, my approach to supervision is deeply enriched. I draw upon my own personal and professional experiences to cultivate a safe and non-oppressive environment for both my clients and supervisees. My primary goal is to empower individuals, ensuring they never feel diminished or judged.
My practice is rooted in trauma-informed and trauma-responsive techniques, which I have developed through extensive research, training, and specialised supervision. I believe in an integrative approach to psychotherapy, skilfully blending humanistic, psychodynamic, and mentalization-based therapy models. By taking a research-based approach, I strive to integrate practice-based evidence, continually refining and improving my methods.
Recognising the significance of the therapeutic relationship, I place great emphasis on common factors research. Understanding how to facilitate a strong and effective therapeutic alliance is at the core of my work.
By choosing me as your supervisor, you can expect a supportive and collaborative environment where we can explore your development, break free from repeating patterns, and chart a course for personal and professional growth.
