About me and my therapy practice
Counselling is not a treatment: It requires commitment and effort from both the counsellor and the client. At times the process can be challenging as you work through unresolved issues from the past or explore a current issue from a different perspective.
My aim is to create a safe space where you can be heard and not judged. Together we will determine the pace of counselling and i will offer a range of interventions to ensure we agree a way of working that meets your needs.
I enjoy working with all types of people. I have experience of working with individuals, couples and families. This includes people from different cultural back grounds and same sex couples. I am particularly interested in working with people dealing with issues linked to loss associated with redundancy, separation or bereavement.
I work integratively, meaning I use elements from different theoretical models of counselling depending on the needs of the person or couple in the session
My first session
In the first session I will give you an overview of the counselling process. I will ask you for some basic information. This session primarily is an opportunity for us to introduce ourselves to one another. You will need to decide if you feel comfortable and able to share your issues with me. I will aim to gain an overview of the issues you are wanting to work on and we will decide how we want to work together.
