About me and my therapy practice
Hi! My name is Marion, and I am a fully qualified Person-centered counsellor, holding a Higher Professional Diploma in Counselling with Distinction. I have worked as a counsellor in a variety of settings including a college, London Friend (LGBTQ+ mental health charity) and in private practise. I have also worked as a Counselling Skills tutor.
My aim is to provide you with a warm, safe and therapeutic environment, within which we can explore together your world and experiences. Together we can travel on a journey, that may at times be hard, to make sense of your difficulties and heal your pain, to help you find your freedom and peace within yourself.
My awareness and understanding of diversity is at the heart of how I work, as I have a deep respect for your individuality and personal background. My approach is therefore centered around acceptance and non-judgement, so you can be free to explore whatever it is you need to.
I have experience of working with a wide range of people, including different backgrounds, ages, cultures and identities, particularly LGBTQ+ identities.
I work both online via video sessions, and in-person in a counselling room based in Shoreditch.
Practice description
I work mainly from the Person-Centered approach. The Person-Centered approach centres you the client at the heart of the therapy, I am not here to instruct or direct you in what to do, but instead to explore your world with you and build a therapeutic relationship that offers you safety and a space to heal.
My role within our therapeutic relationship is to accept and value you as the person that you are, without judgement, to understand you and your experiences with empathy and compassion, and to offer you honesty and transparency.
My first session
Our first session together is an opportunity for us to start to get to know each other, to see if you feel I am the right fit for you. I will let you know a bit about me and how I work, the boundaries involved such as confidentiality, and I will invite you to perhaps let me know a bit about what is bringing you to counselling, and what you are hoping to get from it.
This initial session is 50 minutes long, as with all further sessions. Following this I suggest you take some time to think about it, and to then let me know if you would like to set up regular weekly sessions. There is no commitment to continuing with any further sessions, it is completely up to you.
