Availability
My hours of work are Monday to Friday, between 8am and 9pm.
I offer both face to face and online or telephone counselling.
Please contact me for more information regarding current availability.
I am more than happy to be flexible with arranging sessions. They don't always have to be on the same day and time, giving you more flexibility in fitting therapy around your other commitments.
I offer an initial telephone chat (up to 15 minutes), free of charge, so that you can ask me any questions you may have. It also gives me an opportunity to find out a bit more about what's going on for you and to see how I might best be able to help.
The initial telephone call can also be really helpful if you're feeling anxious about making contact or starting therapy. My hope is that you'll feel less anxious after we've spoken.
After the initial call there is no obligation for you to set up sessions. If you decide that you wish to proceed, we can then set up your first session and take it from there.
There is no obligation to have a certain number of sessions or to pay for a block of sessions in advance, although you may do this if you wish. Generally, you pay for each session as you have it.
You're in control of how many sessions you book, having as many or as few as you feel is right for you.
My charges are:
Adults and young people - £45 a session (50 minutes)
Couples - £60 a session (1 hour)
Trainee counsellors and university students - £35 per session (50 minutes)
About me and my therapy practice
Are you struggling to cope in our challenging world?
Are previous or current life events hindering your ability to move forward?
Feeling lost or stuck, anxious or lacking confidence?
I help clients with a wide range of mental health issues, supporting them through challenging life experiences, when perhaps everything feels just too difficult.
My approach is centred on offering a friendly, safe, non-judgemental space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings. I can offer coping strategies to help in your day to day life, whilst working with you to gain insight into how you might move forward with more belief, hope and confidence.
I work with adults, couples and young people (age 10 onwards).
Adult Counselling
My priority is to help you to the best of my ability; to understand you and the world in which you live and the responsibilities and anxieties that you may be trying to cope with.
My aim is to help you to explore and understand your thoughts, feelings and behaviours and to consider and reflect on what keeps you in a place of unhappiness or distress.
My hope is that you gain a better understanding and awareness of yourself, your feelings and your relationships, enabling you to move forward.
Young People's Counselling
l am particularly passionate about young people's mental health and in helping young people to navigate the often difficult journey from adolescence to adulthood. The adolescent years can often be an emotional roller coaster, full of highs and lows and the perfect breeding ground for worry, anxiety and a whole host of other challenges.
Couples Counselling
I can provide a neutral space for you to explore the difficulties you’re experiencing in your relationship and to find healthier ways of relating. I will work with you jointly to identify and clarify the issues or problems you are facing, to support you to identify and express your needs, to agree your goals and to identify the potential and direction for change.
Practice description
In order to do the very best for my clients, I draw on a framework of different therapeutic modals, including CBT if appropriate.
I use these flexibly in order to meet your specific needs and personal circumstances. One approach does not fit all and the therapy will be entirely tailored to you.
I have experience of working with a wide range of issues including anxiety, panic attacks, stress, depression, feeling sad, low self-esteem, bereavement, loss, self-harm, anger, sexual abuse, divorce, separation, termination of pregnancy, relationship issues, suicidal thoughts, difficulties at work, school or university, bullying, gender identification, to name a few.
I am an associate of EMBRACE, an organisation that supports child victims of crime and have previously been the Counselling Services Director of a local mental health charity.
My private practice is in the peaceful village of Dyke, on the edge of Bourne. It's within easy reach of Spalding, Stamford, Market Deeping, Sleaford, Grantham, Boston and Peterborough.
My counselling room is separate to the main dwelling, is private and peaceful and overlooks countryside to the front and the rear.
There is ample off road, private parking space.
My first session
Starting therapy can be daunting, especially if you have never experienced it before.
There are lots of practising counsellors to choose from and it's really important that you find the right one for you. You need someone with whom you feel you can work, someone who will really listen to you and who will do their very best to understand your world.
My aim is to put you at ease in the first session. We will discuss how counselling works and key aspects of the therapeutic relationship, for example, maintaining confidentiality. We will also explore in more detail what it is that's brought you to therapy.
If you know what it is you'd like to achieve out of counselling we will explore that too. If you don't know, that's absolutely fine; clients don't always explicitly know what they want to achieve. Sometimes it's as simple as 'feeling normal again'.
If there are lots of different things going on in your life, we can look at what you might want to work on first. If you're not sure, I can guide you with what I think might be the best approach.
Young people attend sessions without a parent or carer present and confidentiality is managed in the same way as it is for adults.
It can be hard for young people to open up and building a trusting relationship is very important. They may not feel able to talk to family or friends about their problems or don’t want to ‘burden’ them. My aim is to create a safe space where they feel able to talk through their concerns.
I want to help them to understand their emotions better and to develop coping skills and build emotional resilience, something that will serve them well into adulthood.
Sometimes young people have the idea that a counsellor will just be the latest adult trying to tell them what to do. That’s not the case.
What I offer as a counsellor is an opportunity for them to explore their feelings, thoughts and experiences, to understand and discuss issues that may be on their mind and to help them make sense of the world they live in.

Availability
My hours of work are Monday to Friday, between 8am and 9pm.
I offer both face to face and online or telephone supervision.
I hold Advanced Specialist Training status with the National Counselling Society and offer clinical supervision to both student and qualified counsellors.
I am on Lincoln University's Register of Approved Supervisors and particularly enjoy the opportunity to work with trainee counsellors.
Clinical supervision is very much a working alliance and finding the right supervisor can be difficult. My aim is to nurture you and to encourage growth, whilst at the same time challenging and supporting you to become the best practitioner you can be.
I am more than happy to be flexible with arranging sessions. They don't always have to be on the same day and time.
I offer an initial telephone call, free of charge, so that we can explore what you're looking for in terms of supervision and your practice. It gives us both an opportunity to ask any questions we may have and we can then see how I might be able to help.
After the initial call there is no obligation for you to decide there and then if you would like us to work together. If you do decide you'd like to go ahead, then we can then discuss next steps in terms of setting up the first session.
My charges are:
Qualified counsellors - £45 an hour or £65 for one and a half hours
Trainee counsellors - £35 an hour or £50 for one and a half hours
Please feel free to get in touch to see how we might work together to best support your therapeutic practice.
About me and my therapy practice
I offer clinical supervision to both student and qualified counsellors.
My aim is to provide a friendly, safe, supportive environment, built on a collaborative working alliance, encouraging growth and building confidence.
I am on Lincoln University's Register of Approved Supervisors and particularly enjoy the opportunity to work with trainee counsellors.
It can feel incredibly daunting for trainee counsellors starting out on placement and my aim is to support you to develop your own style, sharing my experiences and giving you the confidence to grow and flourish.
As we know, counselling is a demanding role in terms of emotionally relating to a wide range of people and needs and we need to ensure we have the personal capacity to meet the demands of the role. My desire is to create an environment based on mutual respect, openness, calm and occasionally humour, in what can be a lonely and difficult profession, with your well-being always at the forefront of our sessions.
As someone once said, ‘You cannot adequately support others if you do not look after yourself’.
As counsellors, we can be challenged by many ethical dilemmas and the correct path isn’t always clearly marked; I am here to help you find the best way forward, ensuring that our professional ethical standards are maintained.
As with all professions, it’s important to evaluate your performance as a counsellor. Nobody is perfect and nobody gets it right 100% of the time. It’s incredibly important to me that you feel that supervision is a safe space, where you won’t be judged and in which you can be completely open about all aspects of your work.
I am here to help and support you, not to encourage any feelings of inadequacy that you might be fostering.
As well as exploring areas of challenge, I strongly believe supervision is also about recognising and celebrating all of the aspects that are going well and noticing your progression and ongoing development as a counsellor.
Practice description
In terms of my own counselling practice, I work with both adults and young people. My work is of an integrative nature, primarily using person-centred and CBT modalities to help my clients achieve their goals.
I am also a qualified life coach and find that this works really well with counselling in the right circumstances.
I have previously been the Counselling Services Director and Clinical Lead for a local mental health charity and have also provided supervision on behalf of Cruse Bereavement Care.
My private practice is in the peaceful village of Dyke, on the edge of Bourne. It's within easy reach of Spalding, Stamford, Market Deeping, Sleaford, Grantham, Boston and Peterborough.

There is ample off road, private parking space.
My first session
Before our first session we would already have had our initial telephone call, but the first session provides another opportunity for us to see how well suited we are to working together in a collaborative way.
We will discuss key aspects of the supervisory relationship, for example, maintaining confidentiality and all supervision is offered with a mutually agreed supervision contract.
