About me and my therapy practice
BACP Accredited Counsellor/Psychotherapist. Approachable and experienced Counsellor, Integrative Psychotherapist (Transactional Analysis), Clinical Supervisor, Trainer, and Registered Nurse. I work with individuals, couples and groups and provide short-term counselling and longer-term psychotherapy. Based in New Mills, High Peak, my practice is 5-10 minutes by car from Marple, Disley, Chapel-en-le-Frith, and Glossop, and is easily accessible by train from Stockport, Buxton and surrounding areas. I offer day time appointments and also provide clinical supervision to other counsellors and trainees.
Whether you are experiencing loss, feeling depressed, angry, frustrated, or sad, you may feel overwhelmed, as if you are going mad, and wondering how things will ever get better. Please be reassured that in most cases we can work through things together in a respectful, supportive, confidential and safe manner to bring a sense of fulfilment back into your life.
I work mainly using a psychoanalytical relational approach. I am also qualified in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. I work with people’s fears, dissatisfaction, non-acceptance of their bodies, relationship problems, mistrust of themselves, others and the world. Addressing these issues will aim to reduce any harmful coping behaviour patterns, including unhealthy relationships with food, sex, over-spending, drugs or alcohol
I am a registered member of the BACP, and of the NMC (Nursing and Midwifery Council). I support my practice with regular self-development work and mandatory clinical supervision. This means you can be assured that you will always be safe and well protected throughout our work together.
I am proud of my trusted background as a qualified and experienced Registered General Nurse of 25+ years, having worked both in private practice and in the NHS. Alongside my private psychotherapy practice, I also work as a volunteer counsellor for a nationally recognised Queens award-winning national charity.
