About me and my therapy practice
I am a counsellor/pyschotherapist and I have studied to Masters level. My approach values the unique experiences of each individual and my aim is to provide a safe, confidential space to explore the challenges affecting you. These may be expected or unexpected events, a gradual build -up of life stressors or unresolved situations from the past. At these points it is easy to feel alone and overwhelmed with no visible resolution or clear pathway going forward. Making the decision to embark on therapy can feel daunting but it can also be rewarding and empowering. It takes courage to explore the issues affecting your life, counselling can help you to make sense of your situation, finding new ways of looking at or experiencing problematic emotions and thoughts. I offer an environment where there is no judgement and no right or wrong way of coping. A space where you can feel heard and accepted, where we can work collaboratively to explore and improve your general wellbeing.
I have worked for the voluntary and statutory sector providing one-to-one therapy to men and women of all ages who have presented with a range of issues. There is no one therapy that suits everybody, so my approach is tailored to suit your needs. It is flexible and client centred incorporating a range of methods to build on your strengths and achieve your goals. I am experienced in providing Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), a style that is particularly beneficial in treating anxiety, depression and anger related issues with extensive research evidence to highlight its effectiveness (please see my website for more information).
