About me and my therapy practice
I am a person-centred therapist who puts you and your needs at the centre of everything we do. I'm down to earth, personable, non-judgemental, a great listener and therefore very easy to talk to.
I help to explore the reasons that bring you to counselling in a sensitive way, offering empathy whilst helping you to understand yourself and/or others better and together we can discuss strategies that may help you to get to wherever it is you want to get to.
I work with all ages of adult individuals as well as couples and work with a wide range of issues from anxiety, depression, bereavement, life changes incidents and life stresses.
I understand that seeking counselling and approaching a counsellor can be difficult which is why I offer a free twenty minute assessment so that I can be sure that I can help you and you can also check me out to see if I'm right for you?
Also, if there's anything else you want to know, then please feel free to ask. Thank you and take care. Mike.
Practice description
My counselling room is a small (cosy) space located in Barnton Pentecostal Church / Life Church. I have no affiliation or connection to the church, I simply rent an office in the building. I have my own private room which is used purely for counselling and is a very private and comfortable place where I'm sure you'll feel at ease. I will provide hand sanitiser, drinking water and tissues, however, please feel free to bring your own.
There is plenty of free parking round the back of the building, a ramp for wheelchair access and there are toilets on site.
My first session
After welcoming you in and hopefully putting you at ease, I will start the session with an assessment of your needs to see if we can work well together. It is really important that you feel comfortable opening up to me, therefore I give you an opportunity to leave with absolutely no cost or obligation to continue after we have completed the assessment.
If we both agree to continue then we can complete a full hour and I will work at your pace so I'm lead by whatever you want to share with me, you don't need to tell me everything straight away, if you're unsure, I understand that it may take time for you to trust me and open up fully?

About me and my therapy practice
I am a person-centred counsellor, putting you and your needs at the centre of the process, helping you get the most out of your counselling experience. I will work at your pace, with your goals in mind and without any judgement.
The way I work is very collaborative as there is no "one size fits all." Every client is completely unique, with their own values, beliefs, triggers and fears, and my hope is that our work will open up a deeper understanding of yourself, creating greater self-awareness which leads to you being able to make individual choices that are in line with your true authentic self that enhance your life now and in the long term.
Practice description
My room is very quiet, warm and cosy. It is the perfect space for you to feel safe and relaxed.
I'm on the ground floor with wheelchair access and there is a toilet just down the corridor.
I will provide hand sanitiser, drinking water and tissues, but please feel free to bring your own.
My first session
I will meet you at the back door and take you through to my room. I'll talk you through the process and do my best to put you at ease and see how you are feeling about being at counselling before we do anything.
I will then complete an assessment of your needs, taking some basic information and finding out what it is that you would like to talk about and achieve through the counselling process as well as telling you a little more about how I work and what you can expect from me.
Once the assessment is complete, which normally takes about 20 - 30 minutes, you have the opportunity to leave with absolutely no obligation, or if you like, we can continue and complete a full hour.
