About me and my therapy practice
I am a qualified, BACP registered Counsellor and Psychotherapist based in Leeds, West Yorkshire. I am a humanistic, integrative practitioner. This means my relationship with you is my priority in our work. I use different techniques to focus on you and your needs. Enabling you to reach your therapeutic goals.
I work to the BACP ethics and guidelines and offer you a safe, confidential and non-judgmental space. The space and time are yours to explore and reflect on what you chose.
In our first session together we will explore your aims in counselling and I will complete an assessment with you. This will help us to understand how best we can move forward in sessions.
I have a PG Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy from Leeds Beckett University.
I have experience of counselling men and women aged 17 to 80 years with a range of issues. I have counselling experience from work at Leeds Mind and Dayspring Counselling in Leeds. I have experience of both long and short term work.
Prior to a career in Counselling I have an advice background. I spent 12 years providing debt advice for a Charity based in Leeds.
I engage in regular Supervision to work with you to the best of my ability and I am committed to my ongoing development and learning.
My fees are £50 per session. I offer a 10% discount for students.
I offer a free 20 minute consultation over the phone for us to asses how we could work together, towards your aims of counselling.
Sessions last 50 minutes and are usually on a weekly basis, although I am happy to discuss any other options.
The amount of sessions you require is flexible and can be reviewed throughout our work together.
My first session
In the first session I will carry out an assessment with you. This will help me establish what you would like to explore in sessions and that I am the right person to try and help you. It also gives you time to reflect on your aims and goals of counselling. I will gather contact details from you and ask general questions such as details of any previous counselling or if you are taking any medication. I will take notes and answer any questions you have. The first session is a great opportunity for us to meet and connect. There is no obligation following an assessment to book any counselling sessions.
