About me and my therapy practice

I am a Person-Centred Counsellor/Psychotherapist and I view the world and our experiences of life through a caring, philosophical, enlightened understanding. I offer a calm, honest and open approach towards our sessions.

My own life experiences help me have a greater understanding of the issues faced by others but not so that I know your experience. I will listen to you and help you understand and accept who you are by offering my observations and reflections, as well as my own personal experiences if I feel it’s helpful to you.

I also incorporate some of Dr David Hawkins work into the sessions helping you to identify feelings and patterns as they arise, helping you to experience the feelings as you experience them, letting go and working through any resistance that arises from the mind.

In the sessions you decide what you want to explore, and this happens at your own pace with no pressure or expectations from me of what you ‘should’ talk about.

You are free to express yourself any way you wish and there is no right/wrong/good/bad way to be present in the space.

In my experience, the primary reason for most issues that people experience is due to repressed and suppressed emotions and what the mind does to avoid experiencing our feelings. This can cause anxiety (fear) and depression (anger) as well a host of physical issues, and a distorted perception of the world, the self and can create a sense of being a victim of life.

Together, we can explore your experiences, your perspective of the world all of which are unique to you, and find understanding and acceptance of what and you are.

Practice description

At present I only offer online video counselling via Teams and FaceTime, which are both free to use (but I can use any other app as well) and in my experience are equally as effective as face to face, as when the relationship is connected and at its deepest it transcends the media being used.

I work with people aged 18+ years of age and have a previous working background in mental health services with the NHS having worked with adolescents, adults and older adults with a multitude of mental health, physical, financial issues, in community settings and also in adolescent psychiatric units.

I have a lot of of experience working with trauma and I am able to help you in examining and coming to terms with these experiences, working through and letting go.

These are some of the issues that I work with, but I am capable to work with what ever you want to bring to our sessions.

Trauma/s including PTSD and CPTSD, mental health diagnosis, anxiety and depression, death and bereavement, relationship issues, anger and how to experience and accept it, depression and prolonged sadness, abuse, spirituality and what it means to you, existence and it’s meaning to you, substance misuse, spirituality and higher consciousness experiences, race/identity and sexuality, age and it’s meaning to you.

Each counselling session is once a week (same day and time online) for 50 minutes.

The price of each counselling session is £70 per session. If finances are an issue, let me know as I maybe able to offer a reduced fee but this would need to be arranged prior to therapy starting.

I can also offer extra sessions (at the same cost per session) if you feel you need them. If you want to pay for a block of sessions this is acceptable as well.

If you wish to know more about me and the Person-Centred approach feel free to contact me.

My first session

The thought of having counselling may seem scary and overwhelming, and I can relate to this from having had my own counselling experience, so I understand the first steps in contacting me may feel daunting.

You can email me, phone me or text me which ever you feel comfortable with and tell me a bit about what is going on for you, and then we can arrange a time and day for sessions to start.

The first session is where I go through a brief assessment form with you (this is a form requiring some personal details which are kept confidential, as is what you tell me) and the counselling agreement (the boundaries of therapy). I will send this to you via email prior to sessions starting so you can read through and ask any questions.

Each counselling session is once a week (same day and time online via Signal, FaceTime) for 50 minutes.
