About me and my therapy practice
That first step into counselling can feel daunting. My priority is to welcome you when we meet. I'm qualified, experienced and offer a half price first session, usually within a week of contact. Saturday and weekday sessions are available.
We all find things hard at times in our lives. When we do, it can be good to work through our thoughts and feelings with someone who seeks to understand, not judge us, and offers helpful reflection on our situation.
I am experienced working with adults, young people and children. I am trained in several therapeutic approaches that I draw on flexibly depending on what works for you. I believe each person has their own inherent resources and potential for change and growth. A good counselling relationship helps activate that potential by the counsellor and client working together.
For more about me, how I work, what to expect from a first session please visit my website:

You can email me or leave a message on my confidential answerphone. There's no need to provide a detailed message - just contact details and an expression of interest. I usually respond within two working days.
Qualifications & Experience:
I hold a First Class Honours BSc in Humanistic Counselling from the Metanoia Institute London, one of the leading UK counselling and psychotherapy institutions. I have been a full-time counsellor for several years and am a visiting therapist for several residential homes for children.
I can help concerns including, not restricted to, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, anger, low mood, social, family and relationship issues. I have special interests in low self-esteem, loss and abuse (e.g. past, sexual, domestic). I work with adults and children (aged 10+) and have a special interest in working with teenagers.
I am an LGBTQ+ positive practitioner.
Practice description
I work from a private and confidential space within Colbea, the Colchester Business Centre. Free parking and good wheelchair access are available.
My first session
Every first session is different, but here are some ideas of what to expect when we first meet.
My priority is to welcome you and invite you to talk a bit about what is going on in your life and what brings you to counselling.
We're likely to discuss what you hope to get from counselling.
I will say a bit about how I work and answer questions you may have.
As part of my commitment to practising ethically I will need to assess my suitability to work with you. You will not have to decide whether or not you want to go ahead with counselling right away. I will ask you to get in touch with me once you have had time to reflect on the first session.
We can discuss the counselling contract. You can find copies of this on my website.
