About me and my therapy practice
I believe wholeheartedly in the process of counselling as a means of understanding how your experiences can impact on your present situation, thoughts and feelings. I also believe that having a safe, confidential space in which you can offload and be met with empathy can make an enormous difference to your life especially when things feel overwhelming. I work collaboratively with my clients to increase their self-awareness which empowers them and gives them more choice about how they move forward with their lives.
I am trained as a humanistic integrative counsellor which means that I have knowledge of several counselling approaches including Person-Centred, Gestalt, Transactional Analysis and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. This allows me to work with my clients in a way which best suits their individual needs drawing on a range of theory, tools and techniques.
Practice description
I am a fully qualified counsellor and a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. I currently see clients in private practice in Wimborne. I also offer phone and online counselling to UK residents. I worked for several years in Advice and Guidance with young people and adults from disadvantaged backgrounds helping them access training and employment which enabled them to move forwards in their lives. Hearing people’s stories during this time helped me to realise the importance and value of listening well and being empathetic and led me to embark on my counselling journey, training at both West Thames College and Redlands Counselling. I have an arts degree and enjoy working creatively within the counselling room if this is something my client also likes to do and finds helpful.

My first session
Following the first point of contact I will arrange an initial consultation with you either face to face or via a phone call which will give us an opportunity to discuss your needs and for you to ask me any questions. If, following the initial consultation, you would like to go ahead with attending counselling sessions I will arrange a suitable time with you for weekly sessions. I work face to face, online or over the phone.
I believe that counselling can be hugely beneficial and if, following the initial consultation, you feel I am not the right counsellor for you, I would be happy to help you find someone else.

About me and my therapy practice
I offer supervision to counsellors, trainees and those in caring/pastoral professions. Sessions for counsellors are usually 1 hour 30 minutes in line with BACP guidance. However, this is negotiable depending on professional body and/or other supervision in place. My fees are £80 for a 90 minute supervision session.
My background and training is in Humanistic Integrative Counselling incorporating Person-Centred, TA and Gestalt. I have also trained in CBT. I currently work with adults only and therefore do not offer supervision to those working with children and young people.
Practice description
I work in a reflective way incorporating the restorative, normative and formative elements of Inskipp and Proctor's model of supervision. A robust and trusting supervisor/supervisee relationship is extremely important to me in my work, with the view that the supervisee is enabled to bring the most challenging aspects of their work into sessions and feel comfortable doing so.
My first session
Our first session will be spent working on a collaborative contract, giving me the opportunity to understand what you would like to gain from supervision and how I can best support you to ensure that the client is at the centre of your work.
