Availability
Please get in touch with me to discuss availability. I work a mixture of office and out of hours including early morning and late evenings.
I do one to one session from a private room and I also offer Zoom sessions for people who are pressed for time.
I also do walking sessions which can be helpful if clients struggle with the intensity of sessions in a room or just find nature helps to regulate them while they express emotions. Sideways talking can be very helpful for men and also for young people.
About me and my therapy practice
I am passionate about Counselling and using the space it creates to explore my clients experience of life and develop a therapeutic relationship.
‘Talking Therapies’ as it is often described, allows clients to talk freely and confidentially about what is going on in their worlds without judgement or advice.
The process in itself is often therapeutic but together we look at the world of psychology (the science of the mind) to explain ways and patterns of behaviour, which can be enormously helpful in having greater self awareness about the whys and wherefores of our way of life.
Counselling can often help people with trauma experiences, anxieties or low mood, those struggling with grief or supporting those with long term illnesses or disabilities. It can also help if you have issues with body image and self worth and engage with coping mechanisms like alcohol, drugs, self harming and Eating Disorders.
Practice description
I have a MA in Psychotherapy and a PG Dip in Counselling, I am registered with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
I am an Integrative Therapist which can be confusing lingo in psychological therapies but basically means I adapt my practice to meet the needs of my clients. Counselling isn’t really one size fits all because people are different - and so are their life stories - so working together we can look at interventions that might help.
I am trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Trauma Sensitive Therapy, Transactional Analysis, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy for Depression, Bereavement and Compassion Focused Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy, Creative Therapy and have a BACP equivalent Level 1 & 2 qualification in working with Young People from age 11.
My Masters Research Thesis was in Shame and I have a special interest in low self worth and how it presents in client narratives.
My client group is broad and I like it that way - I work with a large group of Professionals in a Law Firm and many young people (having been a schools counsellor) and pretty much everything in between.
As a member of the BACP I work within their Ethical Framework and am professionally Supervised and undergo continuous professional development training.
