About me and my therapy practice

Supporting your child’s wellbeing is challenging. I can help. As an accredited counsellor, I work with children, young adults (4-25), and their families to find solutions. I have 30 years of experience in schools, as a teacher, a SEND specialist and a counsellor. I am also Barnardo's child-related adoption trained (Ofsted registered). I provide tailored support to help children and young adults navigate the complexities of education, friendships and identity, building resilient life skills and finding harmony for the entire family.

How counselling helps

From my own personal experience, and from client feedback, I know how important it is to seek professional help early. Addressing children’s and young adult’s difficulties as they arise means that solutions can be found before problems get worse.

Play and creative approaches, as well as talking therapies, enable children to communicate in their natural language. Through counselling, they can explore and understand their emotions, develop problem-solving and social skills and better manage their feelings.

Counselling helps children and young adults feel happier and more confident to ask for help. They feel heard, less anxious or depressed and less likely to turn to self-destructive thoughts and behaviours.

There are many reasons why families and young adults might be looking for support. These include a broad range of issues from school and family difficulties, trauma and conflict, body issues and gender questioning, to self-harm and suicidal thoughts.
