About me and my therapy practice
My name is Sarah Edge and I specialise in providing person-centered mental health support, in the form of Counselling and Psychotherapy for Pregnant and Postnatal women and people, including mothers and birthing parents of older children, online, by phone and face to face from Thrive Wellbeing Hub in Sale, Manchester.
Having a baby is perhaps one of the biggest psychological, physical and emotional adjustments you may ever experience. It is not unusual to notice an increase in anxiety and a decrease in mood around this time. You may have experienced difficulties in conceiving, in pregnancy, miscarriage and/ or baby loss, birth trauma, difficulties following birth, perhaps with feeding and of course some or all of the above, in the context of your existing life, with perhaps other grief and stress to manage, all of which may impact your mental health in motherhood.
I am a qualified, experienced and accredited therapist, but I am also a mother of two young children. It was my personal experience of postnatal mental ill health, that inspired me to start this perinatal specialist service.
Practice description
I provide person centered counselling & psychotherapy (talking therapy), specialising in pre & postnatal mental health (and surrounding issues).
I believe that making, carrying, birthing and raising babies involves some level of loss, physical and emotional trauma and that women deserve time and support to physically and emotionally recover.
I try to be affordable and flexible and have options to bring your baby if childcare is a barrier, work by phone if leaving the house is difficult and book ad hoc or regular sessions (whichever suits your needs, budget, access to childcare and/ or availability).
I provide a mix of evening, morning and afternoon appointments Mon- Thu and a single session is priced at £69 for 50 minutes. As I work with new mums, and as I mum myself, I know there may be times you are unable to attend at short notice, I do not charge in full, for missed sessions.
I have both an undergraduate and postgraduate degree in psychology, as well as a postgraduate diploma in Counselling & Psychotherapy. I have extensive knowledge and experience supporting new and pregnant mothers & have a busy and thriving therapy practice. I have professional relationships with a number of recognised charities supporting new mothers and parents, as well as growing social media page @maternalmentalhealthwellbeing.

About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I am Sarah Edge and I run Edge Therapy from Thrive Wellbeing Hub.
I provide counselling & psychotherapy and supervision, with a focus on pre & postnatal mental health (and surrounding issues). I work online, by phone and face to face.
I describe my therapy style as working from a person- centred foundation, integrating concepts from the compassion focussed and trauma informed approaches. I centre my way of working around five main principles; acknowledging trauma, loss and adjustment, normalising psychological distress in the perinatal period, psychoeducation, compassion, and authenticity.
I offer a personalised and person- centred approach to postpartum psychological care.
I focus on working with women, and perinatal mental health (and associated anxiety and depression compounded by hormones, trying to conceive, pregnancy, baby loss, birth, infant feeding and the postnatal period). This is where I feel my strengths, skill and knowledge exist, and I am passionate about supporting women through some of the most vulnerable and life changing times in their life. I also believe that making, carrying, birthing and raising babies involves some level of loss, physical and emotional trauma and that women deserve time and support to physically and emotionally recover.

Practice description
I have a person- centred approach to clinical supervision, and believe good clinical supervision, like good therapy, does not need to be fussy or complicated. I aim to provide a supportive and respectful environment that you feel safe to explore your clinical practice, aiding your growth and development as a therapist. I tend to breakdown supervision into three main areas; you and your needs as a person and practitioner, the needs of your clients/ client work and your professional growth and development and my role in this. I believe the supervision relationship should be based around mutual respect, professionalism and shared experience, and will be guided by your professional and supervisory goals and needs. I believe supervision should be an empowering, but also enjoyable process.
I receive a number of requests about professional consultation to ask questions about the development of private practice and/or working with perinatal mental health. These consultations are available as both one- off or regular/ semi regular where there is already an existing supervisor in place or prior to client work. I advise those seeking professional consultation to have a think about what you want out of the consultation and think about any questions you particularly want to explore.
I work online, by phone and face to face in Sale, South Manchester.
If you would like to know more and/ or book supervision, please get in touch edgetherapy@outlook.com.
