About me and my therapy practice

I offer walk and talk counselling outdoors in the Ashdown Forest in East Sussex.

Having counselling outdoors offers a unique alternative to traditional therapy in a room or online. There are various different routes to explore and many people find that the outside space and the beauty of the Ashdown Forest is therapeutic in itself.

Walking can help to facilitate discussion and create movement in your thoughts, feelings and ideas. You may find the setting feels less contained than working indoors and there is flexibility to walk, sit, stop and engage with the environment.

We will take things at your pace, both with what we talk about and with the walk itself. The phsycial benefits can also help to create a more holistic experience in terms of taking care of your wellbeing.

I have undertaken additional training to work in this way and we will discuss confidentiality outdoors as well as any other concerns before the first meeting.

I am experienced in working with issues such as anxiety, depression, negative beliefs about yourself, stress and burn-out, low self esteem, loss and bereavement, lack of confidence, coping with change and life transitions, work-related issues, relationships, family difficulties and more.

As an integrative therapist, I can adapt my approach to suit you and your unique situation.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Practice description

The Ashdown Forest provides a beautiful backdrop for outdoor counselling. You will need a basic level of fitness as well as some trainers or walking boots.

I am happy to go out in all weathers except for heavy rain and strong wind as it can be hard to hear one another. If the weather is very bad we can use my wood cabin at Hadlow Down or online/telephone as a back up option for the session.

My first session

The first session is no obligation and provides a chance to talk a bit about what has brought you to counselling at this time and for you to see if you feel comfortable with me. We will meet online first before venturing outdoors.

Feel free to discuss any concerns you might have and I will be happy to answer any questions about what to expect or about how counselling works outdoors, especially if this is your first time seeking therapy.

I will also ask you some questions to help me get a sense of your current situation and make sure I have the relevent expertise to support you. You can share as much or as little as you feel comfortable with.

The first session will last 30-40 minutes and be at a reduced fee.
