About me and my therapy practice
Starting counselling can feel like a daunting journey. I am here to provide you with the support you need to help you process your thoughts and feelings, and explore how you might move forward in your life.
I am non-judgemental, accepting of you and your experiences, and here to listen to and work with whatever is on your mind. While counselling can be challenging at times, it can also come as a huge relief and be experienced as liberating and growthful.
I work with all types of people, across a broad range of situations and experiences. These include diagnosable mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, panic, agoraphobia, trauma responses, substance misuse, and stress. I also have particular interests in bereavement, caring situations, loneliness, low self-esteem, life changes, identity, anger, feeling overwhelmed or stuck, recovery, family relationships, work issues, and meaning and purpose in life. Most importantly, we will work together on whatever is important to you.
I have a range of experiences in counselling, as well as through broader work on mental health issues. I have worked as a counsellor in a large hospice in the South East, and for a charity supporting people recovering from drug and alcohol addiction. I have also worked as a counsellor for a charity supporting carers. In my wider work, I undertake research for the NHS, local and national government, and charities such as Mind and the Alzheimer’s Society on issues such as mental wellbeing, loneliness, caring, dementia, identity and belonging.
Whenever you’re ready, feel free to get in touch to arrange a free first session to explore what is going on for you and if I am the right counsellor for you.
