About me and my therapy practice

Whatever brings you to counselling (as individuals or for relationship counselling), I will aim to help you feel valued, heard and understood. I can help you to identify the challenges you are experiencing, discover ways to cope and to move forward in meaningful ways.

I see my role as empowering you to heal, rediscover your strengths and increase your ability to trust yourself. I will value you as a unique, complex individual who brings with you all of your experiences, hurts, worries and desires. Together, we will work collaboratively and with care, to help you achieve what you want from the therapeutic process.

My particular expertise is with working with relationships, losses, low self esteem, bereavements and life transitions of all kinds. Whilst I think that it is important that I provide you with a sense of the types of issues I have the most experience working with, it is important to me to also say that I am interested to get to know you as unique, multi-faceted individuals. I believe that everyone is far more than the intersections of their lived experiences.

Practice description

I work face-to-face from a comfortable, private counselling room in Broomhill, Sheffield.

I am also happy to work via online video call (Zoom, Googlemeet) or phone with you, wherever you are based in the UK.

My first session

It is important to me in a first session that you feel as comfortable as possible. You may wish to share a lot with me in a first session or you may wish to take things slowly. During a first session I will be trying to understand what has brought you to counselling, to gain a sense of you and to begin to see how we may be able to work together towards the aims you hold for counselling.

I will be trying to understand in a first session if I am a good 'fit' for you and if I think I will be able to help support you.

We will work together collaboratively and so you may wish to ask me questions as well about my experience and the way that I work. You are very welcome to do this.
