About me and my therapy practice

Welcome to my profile

My name is Tracey, I am a qualified and experienced Person Centred Counsellor using a holistic approach, drawing from a variety of approaches ensuring I am always working in my clients' best interests and from their frame of reference.

I have over 30 years’ experience supporting children and families experiencing social and emotional difficulties including anxiety, depression, panic attacks, anger, bereavement within an educational setting and within private practice.

I have a calm, friendly nature which helps to build a trusting therapeutic relationship. I am passionate about empowering my clients, building resilience, confidence and self-esteem to promote positive change.

Practice description

People seek counselling for many different reasons, from day to day issues to life changing events. These reasons are very personal to each individual. Counselling offers the opportunity for individuals to explore and reflect on their thoughts and feelings, gain insight and understanding surrounding difficulties and challenges they may be experiencing while promoting and encouraging self-growth and positive change. I truly believe building a trusting therapeutic relationship that is non-judgemental and empathetic is vital in aiding this change. I offer a safe, confidential space for you to explore your own personal reasons for seeking counselling.

My first session

What can I expect from counselling?

-  A confidential safe space to explore your difficulties and challenges without fear of judgements.

 - A 20 minute introduction to counselling. This gives you the opportunity to see if you feel comfortable with the way I work before you make a commitment to engage in the counselling process.

-  During your first session, we would complete a short assessment together. This helps to identify possible triggers, patterns of behaviours/relating, traumas.

  - We would then schedule further sessions. This would normally be weekly to start with but we can negotiate what works for you. The therapeutic hour is generally 50 minutes.

-   We would review these sessions regularly to ensure you are gaining what you need for sessions.

-  At the end of the process we will work safely towards an ending.

I work individually with each supervisee encouraging both personal and professional development and growth ensuring their requirements and needs are met.

In addition to Clinical Supervision I offer Reflective Practice to individuals and groups working within the Mental Health Sector. Reflective Practice offers an opportunity to explore personal thoughts, feeling and values. Helping to identify how these impact our responses, actions and behaviours within different situations/settings.
