About me and my therapy practice
Lots of different life experiences bring my clients to therapy, and while none of us can change our histories, we can change the way they prevent us from leading fulfilling lives. I hope that by helping you face your concerns, you will be able to find your way towards a life that works better for you. I offer a warmly honest and accepting environment in which you can be totally yourself. My clients feel valued and safe enough to take risks in their thinking and in talking through the issues that trouble them, and emerge feeling more optimistic, self-confident and motivated to live life in a way that feels right for them.
I offer clients the opportunity to engage with their counselling in whatever format feels most comfortable for them at the moment - face to face or remote. Please choose whichever suits you best.
What I can help with
Eating disorders, Phobias, Self-harm, Abuse, Anxiety, Bereavement, Depression, Loss, Post-traumatic stress, Trauma, Service veterans, Career coaching, Development coaching, Personal development, Asperger syndrome, Cancer, Health related issues, Cultural issues, Identity issues, Men's issues, Self esteem, Sexual identity, Sexuality, Spirituality, Women's issues, Child related issues, Infertility, Pregnancy related issues, Relationships, Sex-related issues, Anger management, Redundancy, Stress, Work related issues
Practice description
I work from a warm and welcoming counselling room in my home, with metered parking available close by and a car park within a 5 minute walk.
My first session
In my own experience as a counselling client I found it important to work with a counsellor I could be really comfortable with, and with whom I felt that in due course I could trust to help me address issues I was afraid of, but which felt necessary to confront to enable me to move on from my stuck state.
As a result I think an introductory meeting, which lasts 50 minutes and for which I charge £50, is vital in allowing a client to get a feel for whether I'm the right choice of counsellor for them. During this first session we'd work together to outline what the work would involve should you choose to return, and what our respective availabilities are.
What I can help with
Abuse, Anxiety, Bereavement, Depression, Eating disorders, Loss, Post-traumatic stress, Self-harm, Service veterans, Trauma
Types of therapy
Integrative, Person centred
Clients I work with
Adults, Couples, EAP, Young people
How I deliver therapy
Long-term face-to-face work, Online therapy, Short-term face-to-face work, Time-limited
